ARA WAS ALREADY TEN FEET AWAY FROM the girl's lavatory when she heard hurried footsteps behind her, she didn't bother turning around, she knew who they belonged to.
She harshly pushed the door open and stepped inside. She stopped in the middle of the space, feeling her anger boiling over. Her fists clenched, nails digging into her palms. She took a deep breath, closing her eyes as she inhaled and exhaled. She focused on the feeling of the air filling her lungs and the rhythm of her heartbeat.
"You alright?" Atlas's voice said as he stepped in after her. She didn't look at him.
"Yeah," said Ara tensely, she was still holding her right hand in a tight fist as the other pinched the bridge of her nose, her whole body was stiff.
"Well, I'm no genius, but I get the sense that you're lying to me." Atlas said, and she finally turned to look at him, he stood there hands in his pockets, looking calm despite what had just happened.
"This is the girl's lavator,." said Ara, hoping to change the conversation.
"Oh, I'm well aware," Atlas dismissed her. "Now don't try to change the topic."
"What do you want me to say?" asked Ara irritatedly.
"I want you to be honest. You okay? You shouldn't let his words get to you—"
"They didn't get to me, alright?" Ara remarked, pointing a firm finger at him. "But I could tell they got to George, Fred, Harry, and that song they made about Ron clearly got to him, and that's what bothered me! I don't give a damn about what he says about me!"
Atlas sighed, "Look I know you want to defend them, I get it, okay? But you can't go around throwing your fist at any person—"
"Oh, please, Malfoy is hardly considered a person in my book."
Atlas gave her a look and Ara groaned, "Don't give me that expression."
"What expression?"
"The I'm-disappointed-in-you-expression."
"You're my sister, I could never be disappointed in you," Atlas shook his head before he went over to her and placed his hands on her shoulders. "I'm concerned, I've seen the way that foul Umbridge woman looks at you every time you pass by her, it's like she can't wait to see you six feet under already. I don't want you in trouble, I'm not saying you should let people push you around, just. . .be more mindful, okay? At least until this pink bitch leaves."
"Do you think she'll leave soon?" said Ara, her anger finally dissipating a bit.
Atlas gave her a sad smile and pulled her against him, securing her between his arms, as he gave her a brotherly hug, "I don't know," he said honestly, laying his cheek on top of her head. "But I hope so, I don't think I can keep my anger towards her reserved much longer, I might just end up like my little sister, you heard of her? Yeah, venomous thing she is."
That finally drew a chuckle out of her, she finally pulled away from him and gave him a watery smile.
"I'm glad I found you, Atlas."
"I'm glad you found me too, Ara."
