knock, knock. a few loud pounds at the door nearly startling alhaitham to jump up. he let out a heaved sigh with his brows furrowed as he got up to the door. "hi, uh.. are you kaveh?" alhaitham rose a brow as the delivery man was double checking the package.
the scribe's brow rose as he looked down at the package the other was holding between them. "..yeah, i am." he said as he leaned onto the door frame. imitating what kaveh would've done to the delivery man. "alrighty, could you just sign this for me.."
"no problem." he lowered his voice low and deep with a hand running through his hair. just like kaveh would do. alhaitham basically signed the paper with a scribble that hopefully looked like a K inital.
a very obvious, fake cough came out behind the delivery man which caught both of their attentions. "hello! my fellow.. and kaveh." a hand was placed on the blonde's hips as the delivery man excused himself and walked away.
silence laid upon them as it was just them two. with the package in alhaitham's hands, he let out an "ahem." walking back into the apartment. while kaveh followed behind. he watched alhaitham toss the small rectangular box onto the kitchen counter. the blonde took a small deep breath before he could say anything.
awkwardness was still lurking around. "..was that your impression of me back there?" really, can he still bring up a conversation after the gray haired had told him he fucked up his life? no response came out of alhaitham's mouth as he was focused on his phone.
kaveh bit his lip after being ignored. "this was for you though," he tossed it lightly which landed at alhaitham's feet. "open it or not, but you should open it." the scribe's eyes looked down at the package then to the blonde. "you're still not gonna give up, aren't you?" his brows furrowed as he picked up the box.
looking up at kaveh suspiciously while unboxing the package. his eyes widen as the box revealed what happened to be the book alhaitham had been eyeing for. "what is this?--how'd you know?" alhaitham's tone was indifferent, his hand holding the book as he looked at kaveh who was smug as he unopened the box.
"i figured you needed a new book.. so," kaveh shrugged as he leaned onto the counter while still in his contaminated work clothes.
he knew he had some addiction to books, but using books as a way to forgive him for an advantage? well, it did work. alhaitham could credit that, but he shouldn't fall for it! he thought as he tried to read kaveh.
"why are you doing this." alhaitham carefully placed the book onto the coffee table. he tried to stay composed as his brows were furrowed. "well, you know.. " the blonde said nervously as he took a seat on the opposite side of the couch. "i really fucked up.. like really."
"we went over this already." a soft sigh came out of kaveh's mouth, "I.. yeah, I know." silence was upon them. alhaitham stared at the book to avoid the other's gaze.
"tighnari told me what you were into." the architect said as he got up while scratching his head nervously. a slow and unsure nod was given to him as he looked up at kaveh. "..let me know how good the book is." he bit his lip as alhaitham watched kaveh walked to his room.
a heaved breath was let out as soon as the door was closed shut. alhaitham laid back onto the chair, relaxing from the awkwardly tense atmosphere. just as he was catching his breath, suspicion creeped up at him as he looked at the book on the coffee table.
didn't he just mention tighnari telling him stuff?! he said to himself with furrowed brows. alhaitham pulled out his phone as he went to tighnari's contacts. furiously typing before hesitating to send the message. I did get the book without buying it. he thought for a second before shrugging and deleting the message and went off to read the book.
that doesn't mean I forgive him. he scoffed and rolled his eyes.

the scratching of the pencil across a large rectangular sized paper filled the room. with sleepy eyes and mind full of so many other thoughts unorganized in his head drove him nearly crazy. he slouched over as he measured and drew curved and straight lines on the paper.
it was already past dinner and he stayed at the desk the moment he walked into his room. kaveh's mouth was left open a little bit as he felt a bit of drool trying to escape.
slowly dozing off as he was thinking of having some donuts but also looking into small houses to live in. he knew he had to lock in if he wanted to get out of this place immediately. if alhaitham wanted him to get out of this place.
kaveh groaned at the thought. putting down his pencil and ruler materials as he picked up his phone and started searching up some small cheap houses. never thought he would be doing this so recently again.
his thumb moved up and down as it scrolled for houses of his liking. though all the houses that were small screamed homeless right in his face. as he was about to dissolve into his chair a knock was laid on his door.
kaveh's attention was faced fully towards the door. staring at it for a few seconds before speaking up, "who is it?--"
"the book was good." that voice that belonged to alhaitham interrupted him. "it was slightly better than the useless reviews." the door opened slightly ajar as the gray haired peaked in. kaveh stood with raised and widen eyebrows that were his reaction to alhaitham sharing his thoughts with him.
alhaitham took the speechlessness and silence from kaveh as if he didn't want to talk to him. "wait! im just surprised.. what was the book about?" kaveh held the door open as the gray haired was about to close it. "surprised at how fast you read the book." he added.
the scribe gave kaveh an eye as he sat on the couch. "it was some what a plot twist." his eyebrows stiffened as he was intending for kaveh to sit and talk with him. instinctively, kaveh sat down opposite from his as alhaitham had continue to tell him about the book.
kaveh could feel himself grow proud as he basically gave himself imaginary points for getting along with alhaitham and slowly getting there to forgiveness.
