Kayla's POV

I sat up in my queen sized bed dreaming about what happened yesterday, I kissed my best friend. The best part is she likes me back. I've read in books that it doesn't always end well when you date your best friend but I'm not gonna let that happen.
While getting ready I hear a familiar ping, signaling I got a message, when I saw who it was my whole face lit up

Tara💫🩷: Good Morning

'Good morning' I replied

Tara💫🩷: Are you on your way?

'Yes I'm about to drive out'

Tara💫🩷: Ok, can't wait to see you

'Same' I texted while walking downstairs.

I'm not a breakfast person neither is my dad so he just leaves early and leaves my money for the day on the counter along with a note. This one says 'Good morning sweetie hugs and kisses please have at-least a banana. Call if you need me' I smile while grabbing a banana and headed out the house.
My dad is such a great guy it's a pity him and my mom didn't last long. She said he just wasn't her soulmate and I can't fight her for that, cause I know they would've been miserable if they had stayed together longer.

Pulling up to the familiar house, a warm smile landed on my face when I saw her waiting for me at the door, as soon as she saw me she came and entered the car. This morning I got a hug along with a peck on the lips. Oh I can get used to this.
"How did you sleep?" I asked her.
"Honestly I barely got any due to the fact I was so happy, but I'm not tired" she stated.
"Oh I get that cause the same thing happened to me" I said.
"When are we gonna tell our friends cause I was thinking we should tell them this morning. I literally can't keep this happiness in" she asks. "Sure we can tell them, I wanna get it over with too".

Pulling up to the school parking lot we see our friends standing by the steps. This is it. We both unbuckled and got out, we didn't hold hands or anything we just acted normal. We had our morning hugs and stared our regular school conversation. Tara calls for the attention of our friends and says "Kayla and I have something we wanna say" as she looks towards me I nodded and said "We're gonna start dating" waiting to hear what they're gonna say.
     "Called it" Attiana says and everyone starts laughing. Samantha and Thomas both said congratulations and went on our way towards our lockers. Tara looks over at me and locks her hand in mine.

This class is my most boring one yet, not because I don't like Social studies but it's the only class I don't share with Tara. Time slowly crawls by as an idea pops up in my head to ask her out on a date. I excitedly sat up and started planning. Since we're teens we gotta keep it simple but who says I can't go all out.
I decided on taking the romantic route and pulled out my neon pink sticky note pad and wrote on it 'Would you go on a date with me? xoxo Kayla'. When this class is over all I have to do is run to her locker before we meet up to get to our next class.
 
  After a completed mission I saw Tara coming towards me in the hallway, she then walks to her locker opens it to pull out her chemistry book and the pink note falls out. When she reads it and looks at me smiling "Yes I'll go in a date with you, can you tell me where?" She asks. "No, it's a surprise. But it's today at 5" I said. "Ok" she replied.
     We went on to our classroom and obviously chose her as my lab partner. Today we were focusing on acid based titration. I love chemistry so much, I don't know who else loves chemistry as much as I do.
Classes went by and in a flash it was the end of our school day.
   Our friend group said our goodbyes and Tara entered my passenger seat. I pulled out of the school yard and rested my free hand on her thigh while focusing on the road. In my peripheral view I saw her cheeks turning red. She's such a cutie.
I dropped Tara home and headed home to start getting ready for our date. I told her I was picking her up a 4:30. What she doesn't know is where I'm taking her.
   I got home took a shower and straightened my hair. I then picked out an outfit, I went with black jeans and a with polo t shirt paired with my black and white retro ones.
While I was spraying my obsession by ck, there was a knock on my door "Come in" I shouted. It was my dad asking what's the occasion I finally caught him up on how Tara and I shared feelings that are more than friendships and that I'm taking her on a date.
  "Congratulations cookie, I hope you guys have fun and remember curfew. Also be safe" he gave. My dad is always supportive of everything I do, he makes sure that I know I can come to him with anything.
Heading downstairs I got my car keys and headed towards Tara's. I can't wait to see what she has on.
