Tara's POV

The last class of the day was P.E (ughh). I don't think anyone knows how hard P.E is for me. Still I'm thankful that it's a period with all my friends.
Mr Greg said we're gonna play volleyball so he split up into two teams. Sadly Kayla was placed on the opposing team. I was upset at first, but now I think I can use this as an advantage to flirt.
Kayla's team is the first to serve and my team swiftly kicked into action. I held a stare at her through the net and then winked, with enough time to send the ball back over. Surprisingly with Kayla distracted that alone was enough for the ball to hit their side of the court.
"Great hit" Kayla complimented me, enough for blood to run to my face. Embarrassed I took two steps back from the net.

"That was so much fun!" Attiana exclaims. "You should've seen how you guys were heated. The tension coming from you guys was kinda sexy, if you know what I mean." she added.
   "You guys are so far from the point, we were just having fun right Tara?" Kayla asks.
"Yeah..." I trailed off. "Guys let's get changed and go home. Who's hanging out at mines today?"
Samantha said she had to get home to finish unpacking from her vacation, Thomas stated he had a first day of school thing with his dad and Attiana said she was tired.
That only left me and Kayla which of-course my best friend is not gonna deny hanging out with me.
We all headed to the locker rooms, took our respective showers and headed out to the parking lot. After hugs and goodbyes I'm left alone with Kayla on our way home *finally*.
The ride was silent at first until I piped up "What should we do when we get to the house?" "I don't know what do you wanna do?" Kayla then asks. I suggested we just make a few snacks and head up to my room and chill.
Arriving at the house I saw that my mom wasn't home, she must be running some errands. Entering we dropped our bags to the floor and made it into the kitchen preparing a few snacks. Kayla settles for chocolate chip cookies and a can of ginger ale which is her absolute favorite. I make sure we're always stacked on that.
We then headed up to my room and turned on Gilmore girls on the tv. We both took our shoes off an laid on the bed. Mid episode Kayla rests her head on my lap, which is not something she usually does so I try my best not to move.
"We should play two truths and a lie" Kayla say's receiving an assuring nod from me.
"Me first, I had a dog at eight years old, it's ok to like your friends and my dad is single"
Wait what did she just say? Did I hear her say it's ok to like your friends? I take that as my chance to finally admit and said "My turn, I like boys, my mom is gay and I think I have feelings for my best friend" bravely.
Getting up Kayla looks to me slowly and smiles, I don't know what the smile means until she says "I think I have feelings for you too Tara" at that exact moment my lips curled up into a smile "When did you realize?" I asked innocently. "When I realized I can't go a day without being around you or smell your vanilla coconut scent." She says happily.
At that same time while I was staring at her I couldn't help but look at her lips. Those lips when she laughs they look so damn good. I see her start leaning in and I can't help but lean in as well as her soft luscious lips landed on mine.
Our lips molded together like a missing puzzle pieces, while she holds onto the crook of my neck. We pulled away short of breath just looking at each other...we just bursted out laughing while cuddling up and finishing our show.
I think about how all our friends are gonna react to the news, they're really supportive so I don't worry that much. This feels like such a dream come through and I've only known her for a summer. The confirmation I've wanted for two weeks I finally got it
