It's Not Really A Date, but is sort of kinda (Boruto x Sarada)

Part 18

"Ummm Guys"

The two young Ninja turned around. In their standoff they'd almost completely forgotten Shojoji, currently hog-tied with string wire and flat on his belly. And Konohamaru following his own bout against the Delta Clone. They didn't know how they'd managed to miss getting hit by the blonde Cyborg's Destruction Beams given the damage to the now wide-open glade. But looking at the brunette Jonin standing tall over the bound bandit and relatively unscathed (despite his obvious weariness), it seemed in the end he'd proven more than a match for her. Except now her body was making an uncomfortably familiar beeping sound. And the look on Konohamaru's face told them he also knew exactly what was coming.

Shin tried to push himself up the shattered treetrunk but Sarada and Boruto as one pinned him down again. Konohamaru meanwhile made sure he had a firm hold on the back of Shojoji's neck before he called aloud to the false-Uchiha. And the Delta Clone's beeping intensified in volume and frequency. "So this big b1#[14& said something about an antidote to the mercury poisoning. And I'm sure a smart guy like you could work out a way to spread it to all the people infected-"

"AND WHY WOULD I DO ANYTHING TO HELP YOU-OOOFFFF!!" Shin began retorting before being shoved back down roughly by the two young Nin. "Because if you don't, I'll make sure you're still here when she explodes." Boruto answered darkly, indicating the human ticking time-bomb behind him. "We'll both make sure you're still here..." Sarada followed with conviction in her voice, and her Sharingan reactivated despite her weariness. "Some of us are dying of mercury poisoning anyway. But I'm sure you'd be fine. You've died once already, right?!"

Shin looked from the black-haired girl and ginger-haired lad, to the brunette Jonin quickly losing patience and his overweight captive, and to the blonde who everyone knew was fast approaching her final phase before detonation. A visible bead of nervous sweat trickled down his temple.

"Shojoji has a Jutsu that unlocks a pocket universe in his stomach! That's where he's keeping the antidote-"

"AND YOU CALLED ME A CRETIN YOU BACK-STABBING-OOOMMMFFF!!!", "Let me see what I can do." Konohamaru answered shortly, shoving the Bandit Leader's face into the ground. Then weaving more hand signs he cast an Unsealing Jutsu on the villain's back. This was followed by gruesome wretching and coughing, and the up-chuck of various unspeakable contents. And among them an inconspicuous medium-sized vial!!

Konohamaru picked up the sticky vial from out of the mess with a look of barely restrained disgust on his face. "I take it THIS is the antidote?" he addressed the thinner Rogue Shinobi with no sympathy for the anguished groans of the fatter one. Shin swallowed nervously (still in Boruto and Sarada's restraint) and nodded. "Now you'll need to infuse the formula into a catalyst to accelerate the rate of its spread and disperse it in an open space with a good air flow."

"Will she do for a 'catalyst'?" Konohamaru inclined towards the Cyborg woman on the ground, occasionally twitching as her countdown continued to bleep (but otherwise seemingly unaware of what the Jonin was proposing). Shin nodded. "Indeed. But you'll have to make sure the serum is properly placed within her body. And she would need to be in the air quite high to disperse it in cloud form across all of Konohagakure.", "I reckon we can handle that." Konohamaru looked to the ginger-haired lad with an affirming smile. "The last part easy. Assuming I can have some help."

The antidote still in hand, Konohamaru weaved more hand signs and made a couple of Shadow-Clones. The two Konohamaru Clones walked over to the Delta Clone and yanked her up roughly until she was sitting upright. Then with one clone holding her in place, the other weaved yet another Hand Sign for an unfamiliar Jutsu. One that automatically opened the defeated Cyborg's mouth wide. Soon the original Konohamaru walked over to join his clone pair, standing over the incapacitated blonde and none too gently, shoved the vial down her throat!

Boruto and Sarada looked uncomfortably at the sight whilst Shin Uchiha winced, not daring to challenge the Jonin or do anything that might set off the pending explosion prematurely. The catalyst now ready, the Konohamaru-Clones by unspoken command picked up the still bleeping Cyborg and looked to the Shinobi lad, awaiting orders. "Ready?" Konohamaru asked the lad with no further explanation. For Boruto knew exactly what he had in mind, and almost instantly infused Wind Release Chakra into his right hand, readying himself for the maneuver that would decide Konohagakure's fate!

Without another word the two Konohamaru Clones flung the volatile Cyborg on a direct collision course with Boruto. And the Shinobi lad was ready with a Big Ball Rasengan.

FWWOOOOOSSSHHHH!!!

The Delta Clone was knocked upwards by the ball of intense air rotation, soaring higher and higher through a night sky left blackened by the fireworks display that the Shinobi had completely forgotten. And with her the beeping faded into the expanse above, until all was silent.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

.........

One final explosion bathed the sky in a wave of shimmering gold that rained down like droplets of light across Konohagakure! And Sarada stood still a little shakey but nevertheless proud. Soaking in the radiance of their victory and swelling with pride in those that pulled it off in the nick of time! Her revered Sensei, and the hyperactive knucklehead boy who somehow she could always count on to bluster in without a plan and yet still make miracles.

"Renka....??"

'Now why is he calling me Renka? Wait, I forgot. Were we using fake names again? Oh, that's right. Konohamaru-Sensei is here..' Sarada fought to get her thoughts straight as the radiance made her feel warm, and sleepy.

"Renka....!?!?"

'There he goes again. Silly Boruto. I mean.. Boto.. Boron... Whatever his name was..? And silly ground too.' Sarada thought with a chuckle, as the ground beneath her began to sway and her vision became cloudy.

"SARADA!!!!!!"

'There.. Tha.... That's.. more like....

All of a sudden the warmth that swelled inside her seemed to drain all the energy she'd had before. Then turn cold as everything faded to black.
