It's Not Really A Date, but is sort of kinda (Boruto x Sarada)

Part 16

Konohamaru locked eyes with the kid who threw the Vanishing Rasengan at Shojoji for an instant. Though he didn't quite understand the new get-up, there was no doubt in the Jonin's mind as to the identity of his saviour. Unfortunately, his enemies seemed to be catching on as well.

Shojoji took in a whiff as he exerted himself from his heap on the ground. "I know that scent..." He looked towards the ginger lad and grinned maliciously. "....Uzumaki... Well, thanks for savin' me the trouble a' trackin' you down. An' I take it yer lil' girlfriend there must be the Uchiha b>[" +.", "Do as you will with the Hokage's son or Sarutobi, Bandit, but Sarada Uchiha is mine!" Shin butted in coldly, also recognising the disguised black-haired kunoichi in an instant.

Shojoji didn't answer his thinner cohort directly but instead weaved the same Hand Signs as before, and the hocking and bulging neck returned. Going on last time, Konohamaru knew that whatever was coming next would be bad news and swiftly rushed forward to interrupt it with his go-to Sealing Jutsu, String Light Formation. Only for Shin to stand between them and interrupt HIM with a volley of what looked like medical scalpels from within his left sleeve.

Konohamaru was forced to break his stance and throw some Shuriekan to deflect the flying blades. But said blades were under the pale Ninja's psionic control. They powered through the Shuriekan and straight into their target!

The still disguised Genin watched in horror while Shin watched with evil glee as the Jonin fell to the ground. Only to disappear in a puff of smoke and be replaced by a sawn-off treetrunk. To the two young Ninjas' relief the Substitution Jutsu worked and the real Konohamaru came down, pinning the astonished Shin to the ground. But too late.

Looking towards their other enemy, they found him bent over coughing and spluttering, but with a satisfied open grin on his drooling maw. And beside him.....

"No... It can't be...." the disguised Boruto began with rising anxiety as if their situation wasn't dire enough. He remembered being assured by Amado that all the Delta Clones had been decommissioned and contained in storage under his control. And yet here stood one before the party, looking over the Leaf Shinobi with a distainful frown.

And yet she didn't hurl any verbal abuse at the revealed Boruto Uzumaki or his family like last time. In fact she didn't say a word. Merely stood there glowering while coated in Shojoji's drool, and every few seconds convulsing. Boruto was no expert on Scientific Ninja Tools, but it was clear to him that this Delta Clone was damaged! Whether the Former Bandit Leader found her this way or rough handling had caused the damage to her cybernetic framework, the Ninja lad got the feeling she might as quickly become a problem for her controllers as for her targets. Nevertheless Shojoji looked to the Cyborg and barked his command. "Alright Blondie! You got your objective. Take care of 'brown-hair' there. Don't let 'em get in our way."

On command the blonde Cyborg rushed forward and struck Konohamaru with a rock-spitting punch, one that the brunette Jonin narrowly blocked with his brass-knuckle blades but was still knocked back. This left Shin free to rise and glare at the revealed Sarada Uchiha maliciously, and Shojoji to focus on his own prey with a ravenous gleam in his eye.

And high above them the aforementioned fireworks display was finally igniting the night sky, intermittently illuminating the shadow-dense field of battle below.

The self-proclaimed Shin 'Uchiha' soon also rushed forward towards his target. Sarada held her battle-ready stance, eyes glowing crimson as her Sharingan activated. Unfortunately Shin had also activated his Mangekyo Sharingan! The ravenette then struck the ground with a Chakra-infused punch, creating a shock wave that threw up dust as well as chunks of earth and stone on a direct collision course with the bald Ninja. Only for said Ninja to disappear, and reappear right behind her, a scalpel held down in an upraised metal hand.
