(AN: I was going to add a preface last chapter but forgot, either way, just wanted to say that I am terrible at writing romance. If you've read my other stuff then you will understand, but its definitely not one of my strongest skills. Here's the warning before you go any further...)

====================

[Y/N] and Cynthia spent the next few minutes searching around Jubilife City for the Pokétch Company headquarters, however, it wasn't too hard to find, standing out as one of the more prominent buildings amidst the city's landscape. At the front was one large cylindrical tower, with a bold P and C embossed on the front. It stood tall, overlooking much of the neighbouring buildings, and it stretched back quite a distance. Considering it was used for company affairs, research and development, storing supply, and so on, it made sense.

What didn't make sense to the pair was why the entire area had been cordoned off with police tape and vehicles, officers circling the scene with Pokémon at the ready, conducting interviews and keeping civilians away from the scene. A continuous stream of policemen and women walked in and out of the front entrance, carrying away computer terminals, boxes, files and dossiers. Both of them were baffled, were they not meant to receive a Pokétch here? Rowan specifically had instructed them too, and yet, the place was being emptied.

"What's going on?" Cynthia said loudly. "A murder happened here or something?" [Y/N] responded, and they both tried to get a better view of the scene from their distant position, however, there wasn't much for them to see, obscured by bodies and tape.

It then startled them when a voice called out to them. "Hey, kids, no loitering around here, formal international police investigation." Cynthia, not expecting the sudden interruption. [Y/N] turned towards him. He was a tall young-man, a few years older than they both were with short black hair and a heavy brown trench coat covering his shoulders. His face looked tired, like he had been working non-stop. "We're here on orders from Rowan himself, what's going on?"

The international detective looked him up and down. "Rowan, you say? You got any evidence to prove it?" [Y/N] and Cynthia looked at one another, before remembering the small notes that they had been given by the Champion. He fished around in his coat before pulling it out, handing it over. "That enough?" The detective looked over it, scanning his eyes over the small slip. It didn't say much, just a short correspondence between Rowan and the Pokétch Company President. He was suspicious at first, but considering they didn't appear to fabricate the card, he decided to trust them for now. "Fine, I believe you. However, the Pokétch Company is off-limits for the time being, no civilians allowed in or out."

"How come?" Cynthia asked. "We were supposed to be given a Pokétch each." The detective furrowed his brow. "Well, consider yourself lucky. If you had gotten here earlier you would've been given a piece of spyware." They looked at him with confusion. "Spyware?" They said in unison. He nodded. "We've been getting reports from all across Jubilife of Pokémon being stolen from their trainers, or owners. Team Rocket, we believe, are the culprits. And, we've discovered that the latest batch of Pokétch devices came pre-installed with a microphone and located at all times..."

"That is to say, they were using the Pokétch to steal Pokémon, and we've caught them red-handed." [Y/N] and Cynthia were unsure as to what they should even say. Rowan himself had advised them to get a Pokétch, but now they were under investigation. It all just didn't add up. Surely Rowan would've had better judgement then to trust some criminal. They hoped at least. And there was another issue.

[Y/N] really wanted a Pokétch.

"Alright, let me talk to the President then." [Y/N] said with a stern face, facing the detective. Cynthia didn't understand what his plan was, but she stayed quiet for now. "What? No. Didn't I just tell you that he's under investigation for theft, kid?" He nodded back. "I heard you, but we've been given an order by Sinnoh's Champion himself, which I'm pretty sure supersedes your authority..."
