He knew his father had been drinking heavily, and he wasn't sure how he would react when Orion confronted him.  He saw his father sitting at the table, surrounded by empty bottles and his friends. Mr. Monk, his father's old friend, was also there.  Summoning every ounce of resolve, Orion drew deep breaths and moved closer to his father. "Dad, can we talk?" he managed to say, attempting to steady his voice. His father's bloodshot eyes met his as he looked up with a slurred response, "What do you want?" As Orion gathered his thoughts, his mind wandered to the day he had tossed his shoe into the river. Before he could speak, his father rose unsteadily from his chair. "You deserve it," his voice rose in anger, "How many times have I told you not to disobey me?"With a knot tightening in his stomach, Orion steeled himself for his father's brewing anger. He hadn't expected the confrontation to escalate so quickly. "I didn't disobey you," he asserted, attempting to maintain his composure, "I just wanted to pursue my dreams." His father let out a bitter laugh, his words laced with scorn, "Your dreams? Do you think you have the right to dream? You're nothing, Orion. You'll never amount to anything."

Orion's father stood up and pushed Orion with all his might, causing him to fall. Orion was shocked and in pain, as he hit the hard floor. He couldn't believe what was happening. He tried to get up, but his father kicked him with his heavy boots, causing him to yelp in pain. "Stop it, Dad! Stop it!" Orion pleaded, tears streaming down his face. His father didn't listen and continued to kick him while his friends watched in silence. Orion's body ached as he tried to shield himself from the blows. He was terrified and didn't know what to do. Finally, Mr. Monk stepped in and pulled Orion's father away from him. "That's enough, Thomas!" he shouted. "You're going to hurt him!"

He couldn't believe what had just happened. He had never seen his father so angry and violent before. His body was still aching from the kicks and punches he had received. He knew he had to get away before things escalated any further.  Orion carefully climbed up the rusted pipes of Mr. Monk's shop, using every bit of strength and agility he possessed. As he reached the roof, he scanned the area, looking for any entry point. His eyes landed on an old, weathered opening that seemed to lead to the attic. Without hesitation, he made a daring leap down through the opening and into the darkness of the attic below.

Orion listened intently as his father's heavy footsteps echoed through the stairs of Mr Monk's Shop. He held onto the pendant, he was wearing Amala's pendant that had accidentally fallen into his hands. Curious, he picked it up and examined it closely, running his fingers over the intricate design. He noticed the pendant, which now looked like a curved whistle. He started blowing,  but no sound emerged. Determined, he tried again but was met with the same silence. Suddenly, Edelweiss's ears perked up as he heard the shrill whistle coming from the Attic of the Monk's shop. In a swift movement, Edelweiss dashed into the shop and intercepted Orion's father, preventing him from ascending the stairs to the attic. Orion was drawn to a faint light above, revealing a thread hanging from the ceiling. Intrigued, he pulled the thread, and to his amazement, the room illuminated as a light bulb came to life.

Orion couldn't believe his eyes when he opened the old boxes he found lying in the room. Inside, there were several containers of illegal deer musk. He recognized the box immediately; it was from his home. His father had always been a mysterious figure, often disappearing for days at a time, and now, it seemed that his secrets were unravelling. The police had been investigating reports of illegal wildlife trading of deer. As they continued to search the area, they uncovered evidence that pointed straight to Orion's father as the main suspect in the killing of deers for their musk. The revelation about his father's illegal activities left Orion feeling a mix of shock, disbelief, and sadness. He never would have imagined that his father could be involved in something cruel and unlawful.

They had received a tip-off that he had been spotted in the nearby woods with a group of men, hunting for deer. Orion's father vehemently denied any wrongdoing, but the police were unconvinced. They had found traces of deer blood and fur in his jeep, and the nets he had used to trap the animals were confiscated as evidence. They also took his GPS to see where he had travelled recently. To his dismay, the investigation didn't stop there.

It turned out that Mr. Monk, his father's old friend who had been present during the tumultuous altercation, was also implicated in illegally trading and selling the banned perfumes made from the deer musk. Mr. Monk, who had always seemed like a trustworthy and respectable figure, was now in the hands of the law due to his unlawful actions. The unfolded events left Orion feeling overwhelmed and distraught as he grappled with the reality of his father's and Mr. Monk's wrongdoings.

It was a painful realization that the people he had trusted and looked up to were involved in such illegal and harmful activities. As the legal proceedings unfolded, the truth about the unlawful deer musk trade and its widespread impact on wildlife conservation came to light. Orion's father and Mr. Monk were held accountable for their actions, and justice was served for the illegal killing of deer and the trading of banned perfumes made from their musk.

In Iris, where ethical choices often take a backseat to convenience, the power of consumer activism emerged as a force to be reckoned with. The fragrance industry was shaken to its core when 15 million conscientious consumers signed a petition demanding an end to the use of animal products and cruel treatment of animals in the manufacturing of perfumes. The petition reflected a growing awareness and concern for the welfare of animals, leading to a significant shift in consumer behaviour. It became clear that people were no longer willing to disregard the inhumane practices that went into creating their favourite scents. The outcry was particularly impactful for animals like civet cats, often captured in the wild and held in appalling conditions while their scent glands were unethically harvested.

Similarly, killing deer for musk and extracting ambergris from sperm whales was intensely scrutinized. As a result of this groundswell of consumer activism, major perfume manufacturers were compelled to reevaluate their sourcing and production methods. The use of animal products and the perpetuation of animal cruelty became untenable in the face of this widespread consumer boycott.

The Humane Society took proactive measures to educate the public about respecting the animals' freedom and ensuring their well-being. They organized awareness campaigns, conducted educational workshops, and collaborated with local communities to foster a sense of responsibility towards wildlife. They encouraged consumers to make ethical choices, emphasizing the significance of supporting initiatives that upheld the animals' right to live freely and abstaining from activities that exploited them for entertainment or profit.
