Kherkhori, Rajasthan, is a village steeped in dark rulers, outdated beliefs, and discriminatory attitudes towards women. The traditional gender roles and conservative values make it difficult for anyone to break free from the shackles of orthodox traditions. People suffer and then get habitual, start to follow the same and believe the same.
However, amidst the darkness of this village, there was a man who stood up against discrimination, orthodox beliefs, and the oppressive rules imposed by the village Heads. His bravery in the face of adversity serves as an inspiration to all those who strive for change and progress, but the question is does anyone want to change?
'Samrat Thakur' the younger son of village head 'Dharma Thakur' and 'Vaibhavi Thakur'
The elder brother (Shashi Thakur) dropped out of school at a very young age because he always wanted to walk in the footprints of his father. Whereas Samrat wanted to study further and wished to bring changes in this village. Samrat and Shashi are two opposite poles, one is kind and angel then the other is total evil. Shashi Thakur could fall to any extent just to fulfil his motive.
Samrat completed his HSC and then requested his father for further studies who sees no bad, so agreed with him and sent him for further studies. Dharma did not know that the mere 17-year-old boy from his orthodox house had his dream to destroy his dark rule.
After completion of his studies When 23 years old, Samrat returned and returned to shake the particular small village which had no ray of positivity only cruelty and evilness set up by Dharma.
Whatever the decisions were taken Samrat would go against them, because of course, those were wrong and orthodox. The unreasonable torture of women and fake power crushed the innocents, he fought now and then Which irritated and angered his father and brother so that they were ready to kill their blood too just to save their dark rule.
He still would go against it until his mother requested him to go away from this village because his father's fake pride and rules were the only things that were important not only to Dharma but also to the people of that village.
Vaibhavi was scared of losing her dear son so that day she begged in front of him and even gave her swear to him.
Samrat leaves the village along with his 20 years, newly wedded wife(Arti Samrat Thakur) That day in front of his mother's pleads and swears he lets go of his only dream, and from then he starts hating his father and brother even more also decided to never return in this darkness.
In all this the ones who mostly suffered are the innocent women and young girls of that village, he has seen his father abusing and using violence on his mother and wishes to change all of it for good. He saw his bhabhi getting married to his 32-year-old brother at the age of 21, like an insanely crazy age gap.
He wanted to change this but he knows he is powerless, he alone can't fight against a bunch of people who are not ready to bring change for their good.
But the day when he left the village he pushed his dream away too for his mother, his wife. He refuses to take even a single penny from his rich father, not even a single piece of jewellery except the mangal sutra which was shining on Arti's neck which was too much of the money he earned by doing a part-time job while studying.
