[AUTHOR'S POV]

“Eh?!” Vardhan exclaimed over the call.

"Sir... I'm still shocked, how are you alive?" the person on the other end asked, thoroughly confused, as he had been informed otherwise.

"Shut the fuck up! How dare you spread such nonsense?"

Vardhan said firmly, suppressing his anger. The person on the other end started to shiver.

“S-sir... I-I have no idea. I was told that you passed away a week ago,” he stammered.

“Pathak, lying about my death is not a wise choice,”

Vardhan warned, but he was still confused since he knew Pathak wouldn't dare to say something like that without reason.

“I-I swear on my only son, sir! Your nephew told me that,” Pathak insisted.

Vardhan tightened his grip on the phone, his confusion turning to fury before he hung up and stormed into the living room like a bull.

He spotted Mythili and Karthik deep in conversation. Fixating on Karthik, he shouted,

“Karthik!!”

Karthik flinched and nervously turned to face him. “W-what?” he asked, struggling to summon his courage.

“Nalayak! Batameez ladke... how dare you?”

Vardhan cursed as he removed his shoes. Karthik ran for his life, trying to escape, knowing well his Kaka had come to know about his lie in college.

Vardhan hurled a shoe at him, which hit the back of his leg.

“S-sorry, Kaka sa!”

Karthik begged, praying to every god he could think of to save him.

Vardhan marched toward him, teeth gritted, while Karthik dashed from the living room.

“Ruk ja, barbaad aulad! Mujhe bata, mere zinda hote hue tune jhoot bolne ki himmat kaise ki?
(Stop, ruined child! Tell me, how dare you lie when... I'm alive?)”

Vardhan took threatening steps towards the not-so-innocent boy, belt in hand, ready to discipline the brat.

“Woh Ganja mera dimag kha raha tha! (That idiot was driving me crazy!)”

Karthik shouted telling his reason, still running for his life.

“Soovar tere baap ko maar deta, meri maut!... tere liye mai kyun maru?

(You pig! Should have killed your father instead? Why should I die for you?)”

Vardhan retorted, moving closer to him. Karthik spotted his saviour and bolted toward the garden.

“Dada sa!!!”

Dada sa, engrossed in observing the plants, flinched as Karthik came charging towards him like a frightened bull.

“A-arey! Bhagwan! Kya hungama hai?

(Oh God! What's all this ruckus?!)”

Dada sa exclaimed, glancing at Kaka sa and Karthik hiding behind him.

“Yeh... aapka beta—
(This... your son—)”

“Aapka beta!!...  to tere kya hua mai, saand kahike"
(your son!... then who am i to you?)”
