Chapter 22

HALF AN HOUR LATER...

Daisy sat down to a dish of homemade pasta. She moved the creepy cat into the spare room where Toby sleeps when she babysits him. "I don't want to see that thing again in my house. The sooner he takes it home with him, the better." she added as she took a portion of pasta. 

"Oh! Must give Ella a text." she added and picked up her phone that was sitting on the coffee table. She scrolls through the list of contacts until she comes across 'Ella - Play Care.' "Erm, actually, I think I'll give her a call actually. See how she's doing?" she thought and pressed the call functionality.

*ring ring* *ring ring* *ring ring* 

The call is replied by an eerie silence, with barely sounds playing in the background. Daisy can hear the sound of what appears to sound like mechanical parts in operation. Then suddenly there was also the sound of a alarm system which causes Daisy to jump, despite her at home, not at wherever the hell Ella is.

Daisy can hear footsteps approaching on the other end. It sounded like someone is coming. "Wait, it must be Ella." she thought.

"Hi, Daisy, how's it going? How are you?" Ella answered. "Hey, I'm doing just fine. You don't mind me asking this, but where the heck are you? I could hear these strange sounds in the background when i called." Daisy said. "Oh! Sorry, that's my bad, I apologise. I'm doing great. I'm just finishing up here in the factory so I am! You see, here where I work, we manufacture toys for the kids so we do. Forgot to tell you that." Ella explained. 

"Alright, ok, I understand. Listen, what are your plans for the weekend?" Daisy asked. "Erm, I'm free on Saturday so I am. Back on shift again on Sunday though." Ella replied. "Oh, right. Well. You see, we were discussing about going out for a coffee some time and I was thinking maybe we could go for a coffee on Saturday then?" Daisy suggested. 

"That sounds perfect. What time do you say we meet up at?" Ella asked. "Well, I'm having Toby again this weekend. They're busy doing other things so they are, so hope you don't mind his company?" Daisy asked. "No, that will be amazing. I love kids! I love getting to hang out and play with them! Sure! So, again, what time?" Ella asked. "Oh, well, I was thinking, maybe around 1 o'clock? Half one?" Daisy suggested.

"Sounds great. Where at?" Ella asked. "Hmmm, you know what, you know the car park outside of your work? If we meet there, and take a walk down the street, we're bound to find something." Daisy added. "You know what? That suits fine. Ok! I'll put that down in my calendar." Ella answered. "Awesome." Daisy added. "Look forward to seeing you two on Saturday." Ella said. "Bye!" she added. "Bye." Daisy replied and ended the call.
