{Baia's POV}
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was the middle of the night, I was sat near where Master Pakku and his students were. I didn't think I'd ever seen one person from the Southern Water Tribe, much less two people. Not to mention, they brought someone who's been gone for one-hundred years, the Avatar. He's much shorter than I thought, but I'm gonna keep that to myself. He's most likely here to master waterbending, and he's come to just the right place! I'm sure Master Pakku would teach him. We were gathered for a reason, though, and I could already tell where this would be going.
After what felt like another hundred years, Chief Arnook started to speak, "Tonight, we celebrate the arrival of our brother and sister from the Southern Tribe." I leaned forward in my seat to get a better look at the boy. Nice undercut, bright blue eyes, tan skin that's a little lighter than my own.. Hm. What an interesting character.. "And they have brought with them someone very special," Arnook's voice snaps me back to reality, "someone who many of us believed disappeared from the world until now.." My focus shifts to the mysterious little bald-headed man, "The Avatar." The little guy awkwardly waves with a nervous smile, a ring-tailed lemur is sitting on his lap. At this point, I can't take my eyes off this strange trio. A boy with an undercut, a girl with two braided loops who just so happens to be the boy's sister, and then the Avatar, the last airbender and the world's only hope. The people around me start cheering, but I can't help but feel like something's wrong.
"We also celebrate my daughter's sixteenth birthday." Princess Yue, a beautiful lady with white hair and a gentle personality, makes her way into my field of vision, "Princess Yue is now of marrying age!" I see that boy with the undercut look at Princess Yue as she turns to her father, my higher up, "Thank you, father. May the great Ocean and Moon spirits watch over us during these troubled times." Chief Arnook finally gets to the part I was waiting for the whole evening, something else to think about besides the small band of misfits, "Now, Master Pakku and his students will perform!" I looked over at Pakku and his students as they began performing. They waterbend some water out of three large pots, I see two out of the three guests start clapping. The trio that's performing transitions from having their own water to turn with to combining all the water into one singular belt. I noticed Yue sitting down near Mr. Manbun, that didn't surprise me at all whatsoever. They seemed to have quite an entertaining conversation, but I ignored it for a while. Then, Chief Arnook introduces Master Pakku to the Avatar. "Master Pakku, meet your newest student, the Avatar."
Oh boy..
"Just because you are destined to save the world, don't expect any special treatment." Hm, quite the sentiment.. Yeah, sure, that sounded so nice. He should have been a little more respectful, in my honest opinion. And then, that boy opened his mouth.. "My friend and I can't wait to start training with you, after we relax for a couple days." He looks at the siblings and Yue, I could already tell that he wasn't talking about the smooth talker or the princess. ...Welp, best of luck to the little lady! Pakku shoots back, "If you want to relax, then I suggest visiting a tropical island." That made me chuckle a little as he continued, "If not, I'll see you both at sunrise. Good night." After he walks away, the Chief shrugs at him and I make my way over to the trio sitting together. I specifically sat next to the sister of Mr. Backbender, "Hey." She jumps a little, but sighs afterwards, "Hello!" "I'm Baia, leader of the Northern Water Tribe's warriors. It's a pleasure to meet you." I smile kindly at her and she smiles back, "I'm Katara." "Is your brother Mr. Manbun over there?" I motioned to her brother, and the reactions were mixed, Yue chuckled, Katara covered her mouth so she wasn't laughing too loudly, and Mr. Manbun looked at me with an offended expression. Katara regains her composure, "Yes, he is!" I look at him with slightly narrowed eyes, "Hello, I'm Baia." he shakes my hand firmly, "Sokka." "Hm, firm handshake. That's good, I almost thought you were too immature for things like that." Katara starts laughing again, and Sokka gasps lightly. "Relax, Sokka, I'm just messing around." I chuckle and look at Princess Yue, "Princess! How's the smooth talker treating you?" the Princess smiles at me, "He's been treating me well." I nod, "That's good to hear."
