LIAM
Awkward.
I have never lived with a girl before but things are very awkward because Jessica is not the first girl I wanted to be living with, Odessa was.
Vecker, I want to blame Vecker and those stunning blue eyes because—
"Don't worry, my last exam is in less than 2weeks then I'll be out of your hair." Jessica is packing her schoolbag in the kitchen as Tommy and I have cereal.
"Relax," Tommy throws his arm over her shoulder. "Your hotter than John B so stay as long as you want," he gives her a smile that makes her relax. "Liam is leaving later so I'll give you a ride to campus."
"Really?" She peers at him and he nods. "We leave in 20," he puts his bowl in the sink and kisses her hair before walking out and leaving us back to,
Awkward.
"Wow, everyone is being so cool." Jessica pulls the sleeves of her cardigan down, "I'm guessing Vecker made you all."
"Yep," I answer without thinking. "No! I just mean—" it was implied.
"I know, she is amazing." Jessica doesn't look like Jessica anymore.
She is wearing baggy neutral clothes and her hair is not fiery red or curled, even her piercings are removed. It's like her light ran out or something.
"Jess, Tommy is right." I put my bowl in the sink and rinse them both. "You are hotter than John B so don't worry." That makes her smile so I add, "seriously dude relax. We love having a girl here, nobody farts out loud anymore."
She grins comically but she has no idea how serious I am.
"You're not giving up on her are you?" Jessica follows me to the pool table where our textbooks are stacked.
Finals really suck.
"Her?" I tense because Vecker is still avoiding me.
She won't even tell me what freaked her out to the point where she ran to me—the husband she has been avoiding—for 2 days.
"Can I tell you secret, she doesn't even know?"
I lift my eyes to watch Jessica closely. Her accent gets thicker when she is emotional so it's easier to understand when you read the words off her mouth.
"Amuse me." I fold my arms to show my defense.
"I was there the first time you met." Jessica smirks, "no. Not at the stupid diner, it was freshmen year actually."
"What?" I don't know this story.
"Why do you think Tommy is weirdly obsessed with her or why I chose you, to dm. We met you both at our first college frat party. We drank too much too early, you let us crash in your Jeep and later on when we joined the party and she talked to Tommy all night and he took us home in the morning."
Again, what? But that explains how Tommy knew where they lived that night I showed up to her house, I just assumed he asked around or it was because of John B.
"The night is fuzzy because it was 3 years ago and we were very drunk but I'll never forget the look you both gave each other when she bumped into you." Jessica looks into nothing, "the way her eyes twinkled and you lost your breath for a second. It was like it was written in the stars."
Stars?
"My point is, that night you saved two girls without a second guess but I am not naïve enough to think it was only because you are a nice guy. I don't know where this playboy crap came from but I believe in that look of fate, so don't give up on Vecker. It's no coincidence you married the girl."
