It's Who I Am

Chapter 3

Lloyd couldn't help but to cry when he got home. He couldn't stop it as he slammed himself in his room. He ran to the bathroom and cried until their was no water left in his eyes. Why did this have to be him? Why was he forced to be the son of the most feared man in all of Ninjago? Why did he have to be picked on? It wasn't fair. He looked at his eyes on the mirror, which were swollen and puffy. He looked behind him when he heard his phone ding. He walked over and his heart stopped when he read the message. His throat dried and he felt dizzy.

I know where you are. Stop stalling. You owe me.

It was from Unknown. Lloyd felt sick as he sat on his bed, reading the message over and over again. Who would send him this? Maybe he had the wrong number. He knew it was being foolish, but he responded.

What? I'm sorry, I think you have the wrong number. Who is this?

He turned his phone off and held his head in his hands. Who was this unknown guy? What did he want from Lloyd? If he even had the right number. "Lloyd, are you okay?"

Lloyd sniffed and and looked up to his door. He wanted his mom to think he was fine. Who wouldn't? But this time, Lloyd couldn't stop. His tears had been in silence for to many years. He began to cry hard. "Why does it have to be me? Why am I the son of the devil?" Misako looked at him in sympathy and sat down beside of him, stroking his face. She had a journal with her that was about as old as she was. "Lloyd, I want to tell you a story. When you were younger, you always loved your father. He used to live with us. But when you were younger, you would ask and ask about how me and your father met. Why we even fell in love." Lloyd looked at her as her eyes became wet and glassy. "When I was around 5, I met Wu and Garmadon. I was staying with them why our parents all fought in the war. (I just made that up)Back then, Garmadon was good natured and loved everyone even if they hated him. Then when we were 8, your father got bitten by a snake, The Great Devourer. A servant of the Darkness was the snake. A force bot be reckoned with. But when your uncle threw his katana over the wall, he was to afraid to get it. So Garmadon did it instead. Why out there, he was bitten and we found him, unconscious. Wu said a snake bit him, and you could tell then that tour Grandfather was worried. He was home at the time. We rushed him inside and waited days for him to wake up. Finally, on the 9th day, he awoke. But he was not the same boy. He was not the man I recognized. He was evil. His good nature was gone."

"The venom?"

Misako nodded. "Yes. The venom turned him evil. But the venom had not gone into full effect until after you were born. When we were 16, Garmadon wrote me a wonderful letter, describing his love for me. And 2 years later, we fought together with Wu against the serpentine." Misako was tearing up now wiping her eyes. "When you were born, you were your fathers pride and joy. Your more like him than you realize. He loved you so much. He knew he was turning evil, so he gave you this." Misako held a journal up that she had carried into Lloyds room. "This was the FSM's and your fathers journal. They wrote in this. And one of the pages describes how much he loves you."

Misako opened the entry and then showed it to Lloyd. The words were written in ink from a quill and the papers were old and dusty.

I never knew I would be a father. After all, who would want me as a dad? But I have the most amazing son. His eyes shine the the stars in the sky and his hair is blonde just like his grandfather. I am so grateful to have this boy, a child of my own. I promise I will be the best father I can, hopefully the venom will allow. I love my son so much. I wish I could say this over and over again. Maybe one day, he will say he loves me too.

Lloyd felt like crying. This was the nicest thing he ever read about him. "So you see, he loved you very much." Lloyds eyes were glossy as he wiped his tears that leaked from his eyes. "I never knew he truly thought of me like this." Lloyd said, choking on his tears. Misako hugged him tightly. "He did. And maybe, maybe he still does." She kissed Lloyd on the head and left the room. Just as she did, a bing came from Lloyd phone. He quickly looked at it. It was from Kai.

Lloyd laughed as he read the text again. "Hey mom, Kai is coming over!" He yelled. Misako yelled from the kitchen. "Okay!"

"Thanks!" Lloyd called. Kai always made him feel better.
