She moved around several times, always close to home, and it had taken her years to realize that that was her mistake – always staying near her folks.

So, she made up her mind this time to move away. Far away.

Mom and Dad were dead now, so it was okay. No ties anymore. Nothing kept her rooted anywhere.

She threw a dart on a map and decided to settle in a place where no one knew her. She was a registered nurse with good credentials, a hard worker who knew when to keep her mouth shut, when to speak up.

Jobs were never a problem.

She was just starting to feel at home here.

She'd obtained a position at the local hospital and had just started to fit in. It was a new start. And she'd actually felt that he would never track her here.

He's ruined everything, she thought, pulling into a space on the lower level of the parking garage. As she grabbed her bag and headed into the facility, she frowned up at the sky.

Why me, she wondered and headed in to clock in for her shift.
