"Hey, baby I wanted to talk to you about something," Your mom says and you look up from your phone.

You respond

"Well, I don't want to offend you, but I think it's best if you sleep in a separate room from the boys and keep some distance," She explains calmly

👶Did something happen?
You ask with concern.

"No, nothing happened. It's just that you all are getting older. You're almost 25 now, and so are the boys. You guys are not kids anymore, and there are some boundaries we should respect,"
She says, hoping you'll understand.

👶You sure nothing happened? You sound serious,

"Of course, nothing happened. I just want you to, you know, be a little more understanding of everything." She smiles and caresses your cheeks before walking away.

👶Hey moms, have you seen Seungkwan?
You ask entering the Kims Mansion,

"No," Mrs Boo mumbles and turns her attention back to their conversation. You stick around for a few more minutes and head back to your home feeling ignored.

You run into Mr Kwon on your way out and he ruffles your hair,

"Hello there, and it isn't good to skip work," He teases, and you pout.

He tries to avoid the question and mumbles a small goodbye but you stop him.

"It's just a little mom fever. They are all worried about the boys that's it,"

"You know how they are sticking by you all the time and most of them explode whenever the topic of marriage is brought up. And little Kim's repeated attempts to prove that you had kissed both Mingyu and Jihoon are slowly setting things off."

"Simple. You guys are fully grown up, not kids anymore. And as your mom said, the boundary and as a woman it is solely on your shoulders to be within the limits," He snorts and you nod

You walk away ignoring Mr Kwon's calls.

Your phone goes off for the fifth time and you answer in irritation.

You angrily hang up and throw your pillow in frustration.

Appa opens the door and walks in at the exact moment and luckily he catches the pillow before it hits his face.

"I didn't do anything?" He sulks and walks closer and you lie down on the bed with a groan. "Guess Mom told you about boundaries,"

You turn to him with a small glare,

"Of course, I knew. Who do you think put her up for it?"

You sink into the sheets

"Because you chose this,"

👶You don't have to remind me that,

"But as a parent, I understand them, all of them. No matter how close you are, even for real siblings, as you grow older there are distances to be kept. And you should understand that others don't know what's the relationship between you and the boys. And they will obviously be worried because the eldest is way past 30, enlisting soon and you are a grown woman. Your mom really wasn't concerned until others pointed it out. She trusts you, but you know what's in line. It isn't an easy fight and you know that well enough, things are only going to get harder. You guys had fun, spent time together, and created memories but it's time to get real."

He lies down next to you caressing your hair as you stare at him. "The society you've always feared starts from the family and here you have fourteen of such. Some will hate you, abuse you, blame you for everything, but remember the very feeling that made you choose them. The very moment you decide that they are what you want in your life. You have to face them eventually, so prepare yourself, so that even if that day appears all of a sudden, you are well prepared."

👶What if I fail?

"Are you willing to give them up? Are you going to sacrifice your happiness?"

👶Will I be selfish if I didn't?

"Aren't we all selfish? It's fine to be selfish as long as the other person wants the same,"

👶Will they still choose me? Over their family?

"What do you think, baby?"

👶I don't know, Appa. They love me, but is it strong enough to go against their own parents? Am I worth the fight? They can fall in love again, maybe not soon but one day, but parents, will they go against their blood for me?
You whisper as tears roll down your cheeks.

Appa softly smiles and wipes the tears away. "You are worth the fight. But even if something like that happens what would you do?"

👶I will let them go,

"Exactly, you will let them go. Love them with all your heart but if it is how things are supposed to be, you should accept it. Be happy for the time and memories you had. You are worth the fight and I'm sure the boys will fight for you."

👶But when the time comes and they are forced to choose between me and their family, I wouldn't hate them if they choose family,

"Their happiness is yours, right?" You smile through the tears, "Let them go, only if they want to leave, remember, only!" You nod and he hugs you closer to his chest.

"Promise Appa something?" You look up and he stares at you, "Never give up on life? Mom has me, but I need my daughter too. Never lose hope and leave us?"

You break down in tears once again as he stares expectantly. "Appa knows it will be hard, but you can't give up on life baby. Think of everyone who loves you,"

👶They will all hate me soon,
You try to joke wiping the tears and he smiles but holds his pinky up,

"Promise?" You look up at him once more and intertwine his pinky with yours, "Remember, promises aren't meant to be broken,"

"Appa loves you no matter what, baby," He places a kiss on top of your head, and smiles at you.
