The next day at work was awkward. "Hey, thanks for dinner last night, I had fun," Mia said, trying to make it less awkward. "Don't thank me, thank my sisters and niece. I had fun, too," Tommy said, seeming off. "Everything ok?" "Yeah, I'm just kinda tired, I was thinking a lot last night and Rainey kept running around the house and she sounded like a herd of buffalo." "Haha, I think you might be exaggerating just a little bit, Rainey is only an English Bulldog." "She's a crazy English Bulldog." "Hahaha, she probably sounded like a herd of buffalo because it was the middle of the night and you for some reason don't sleep with a fan on." "It was only, ok it was around 1:30, but in my defense fans always make a loud humming sound." "Not the good ones." "Yeah, the expensive ones that only work for a few years." Mia smiled and shook her head, "Maybe you should do your fan homework." "Fan homework?!? Ok, now I know why you and Rainey get along so well, you're both completely insane!!" "And proud of it." "I guess." Mia laughed, "The crazy ones are the ones who have the most fun." "I honestly don't know how I'm supposed to respond to that." "I think the best way to respond to that is we need to get back to working on this case."
A few hours later, Mia got a call from Eva after she was off work. "Hey." "Hi, how was the date? Tell me everything that happened." "Ha! Well, after dinner, which was the Sage and Mortadella pizza, we took a walk, and I told him I see him as more than a friend, again." "Nice! And how was work today?" "Really, really, awkward. We didn't really talk much about it other than me thanking him for dinner." "What else did you talk about today?" "Well, we talked about the case we're working on and-" "You know what I mean." "He talked about how his dog sounded like a herd of buffalo and I told him that he should get a fan and he said that fans always make a loud humming noise and I said that he needs to do his fan homework-" "Fan homework? What the heck is fan homework?" "Haha, fan homework is like searching for the good brands of fans, the ones that work forever and aren't extremely expensive. For some reason, he's against getting a fan." "Get him one for his birthday." "That's exactly what I was thinking." In the background, Mia heard Alaina crying. "Hey, I got to go. Sorry, Alaina needs to be changed." "No, it's fine. I understand." "Thanks, bye." "Bye."
