"iwa."

"yes???"

getting off his phone, iwaizumi grunts as he hears oikawa call for his attention, about to ask another dumb question.

"let me ask you this..." oikawa put his hand underneath his chin in a thinking pose, "why do you think people keep secrets?" he asks, saying it mysteriously.

iwaizumi stared at him in disbelief, as if the answer wasn't super obvious? "so then creeps like you don't know?" he spat out.

turning his head, he gave iwaizumi a sour look, "rude!" oikawa proceeded to cross his arms, "okay then, let me ask you a different question."

slumping his shoulders as they were walking on the street, iwaizumi yawned, "okay."

"so hypothetically-" the brunette started making hand gestures, "let's say there are two people that never talk in school, and ignore each other. but then, they are seen outside together talking and stuff. what does that mean?"

"uhh- that's kind of weird." iwaizumi face furrows as he thinks about said scenario, "like, what do you mean outside together?"

"i don't know like, hang out maybe?" oikawa guesses.

"hmm... maybe they don't want people in their school knowing they know each other?" iwaizumi suggests.

"but why?"

iwaizumi shrugs, "i don't know? maybe their friend groups don't like each other or something.."

oikawa thinks for a second, about the people they were surrounded with. that doesn't make sense, "but what if they're in the same friend group?" he says.

"maybe they hate their friend group? i don't know!" they turn a corner and are met with the school of karasuno high school. "man, i would have rather gone to work than help out seijoh with their training today." iwaizumi groans.

walking into the school, iwaizumi goes back onto his phone, replying messages. however, oikawa's brain is occupied with other things.

hate their friend group? aren't they all friends?

the thought lingers in oikawa's head like a thought bubble, until the screech of a few teenage girls interrupt him.

"is that oikawa?" a female karasuno student whispers to her friend.

oikawa snaps out of his trance and notices, waving at the girls who started squealing in response. the familiar sound struck iwaizumi's ears and he didn't even need to look up from his phone to recognise the agonising screams of teenage girls. "this is definitely something i did not miss from high school." he comments.

"you're saying that as if you didn't have some yourself." oikawa smiles, nudging his best friend.

his tan hand makes it's way to his bicep, holding it gently, "very funny." he chuckles.

as they arrived a little early, the two of them walk up to level 2, trying to explore more of the school and kill time before they had to go and watch the practice.

there were no signs of any of the karasuno volleyball players, but it definitely seemed like class had just ended and everyone had been dismissed. people were hanging in the corridors, some at their lockers.

they pass by class 2-1, and oikawa makes a random comment, "we just passed by kageyama's class."

his best friend stiffled a laugh, but then he clears his throat, "like you would know... stop bullying people younger than you, oikawa." iwaizumi commented.

without iwaizumi looking, oikawa rolled his eyes. however, they confinued their stroll along the corridors, walking past 2-2, then at 2-3.

but then, the busy school air was suddenly interrupted when a high pitched scream came from the corridor in front of them.

oikawa and iwaizumi looked at each other, and could see a crowd gathering around a few people.

l/n, and another girl who seemed to be screaming. around them were that tall blonde and that other guy, and the two boys had no idea what they were discussing or doing.

with the large crowd, it was hard to make out what they were screaming about, but it didn't seem very passive. all those older kids could make out were the comments that other people made about the two girls.

one things for sure, karasuno people were nosy.

"high school fights, let's get out of here."  iwaizumi mutters, before turning away and leaving already, but oikawa eyes were still fixated on the girl.

the girl that wasn't l/n.

"c-coming!" his eyes lingered one last time, before saying a string of "sorrys'!" to get out of the crowd.
