Once I was parked, I stayed in my car till it hit 8:05. I walked into the luxurious restaurant. Chandeliers hanging from the high roofs, candles lit on the tables adding a warm glow to the restaurant. People sat at round tables clothed in white silky-looking cloths. The faint sound of chattering along with metal hitting porcelain.
The sound of an elegant piano and violin filled my ears as the hostess led me towards the table. I looked around, mindlessly following her. Everyone here was dressed to the T. Tuxedos, dresses that probably cost as much as my rent, jewels draped along the women's necks. I was glad Milo bought this dress, if I had come in any of my dresses I would've been super underdressed.
"Look who's here." A silky voice filled my ears. Looking past the hostess who moved to the side, gesturing me to sit, I spotted Mr. Archer. I gulped slightly and thanked the lady kindly before taking a seat.
"Mr. Archer." I greet softly, he smirked slightly and nodded once. I noticed his eyes take in as much of me as he could, making me squirm a little in my seat. "I mean not to be rude but... what exactly am I doing here?"
"I figured that I cut our meeting a little too short. I still have things to discuss with you," He said sternly, waving over a waiter. "Bring us a Champaign bottle, please."
"Oh, uh, I don't drink alcohol.." I mutter, looking a little ashamed. Mr. Archer raised an eyebrow at me then nodded towards the waiter.
"Still bring the Champaign and bring her a...?" He looked towards me for an answer, making me stumble over my words. Damn it.
"If you have lemonade, it would be great. Thank you..." I said, fiddling with the folded napkin. The waiter moved along, leaving the man's eyes on me.
"Miss Elisa," He started, making me sigh softly before meeting his gaze. "I've heard some things from one of your coworkers. I will not name names because we're here to keep it professional."
"What sort of things?" I ask confused. I didn't know what I could've done badly exactly, and who would spread rumors? As far as I know, I was in everyone's good graces.
"Things such as sleeping with your coworkers, talking inappropriately about clients, making vulgar jokes about animals and coworkers, smoking, and even sex while working." His words made my mouth drop. With each syllable out of his mouth, my heart stuttered. First of all, what?!
"Okay, I-" he cuts me off with a scolding look.
"I do not appreciate being interrupted, Miss Elisa." He said lowly, his eyes piercing into mine. I pull my lips into a tight line and nod, biting back my tongue before I got myself fired. "As I was saying. I do hope you know that everything I have listed is not allowed in the workplace. I will not have my employees being vulgar while under my hand. Do you under-"
"But I don't-" I bit my tongue again as he leaned forward against the table, pinning me down with his eyes.
"Interrupt me one more time and you'll regret it." He whispered sternly, making me swallow down all my words. I thanked everything all mighty when the waiter came, breaking some of the tension. Once he put down two ice buckets with bottles in them, he asked if we were ready to order which we replied with a no.
Once the waiter left, I grabbed the glass bottle of lemonade, pouring some into my glass and taking a sip. Enjoying the way the cold liquid ran down the inside of my chest and to my stomach.
"Back to the conversation at hand. I do not doubt some of these claims seeing as though I've revised the camera footage to see you and a male coworker getting very close and even leaving together." He said. I instantly knew it was Milo he was speaking of. I couldn't hold my tongue anymore.
