🎭~Audrey's POV~🎭
I sat down. My friends and fellow thespians around me. My hair was being braided for the show. Although, my friend braids quite tight!
"Ow!" I yelled
"Sorry," my friend Alyssa said, "I'm trying to make it tight so that it doesn't fall out of place when you move around."
It was quite the effort. My hair is thick and curly, bad combination if you wanted a tight braid.
"Hey, Harl says we have to put on costumes to do mic check!" My friend Megan said
"Thank you!" All of the cast said
It's a common theatre thing for us. Whenever someone on set or crew tells us something, we say "Thank you!" to know that we acknowledged what they said. It's also code for, "No one's in the way of the cyc, batten, etc." so they won't die from flying props and set pieces. Hey, accidents happen.
"Okay, done!" Alyssa said
"Great! Thanks." I said to her
I hugged her as a thank you and I went off to change into my main costume. Which means any costume I can get on the fastest.
"I can get on my "Easy as Life" costume on the fastest."
I rushed, knowing mic check was in five minutes, then the last dress rehearsal. Gosh, this is some work. I ran up to the sound booth and got my mic on. I then ran to the stage.
"Aida!" Ms.Harl yelled
"Here!" I said
"Sing or something." She told me
"Uh....'If you don't like your fate, change it! There are no shackles on you! So don't expect any pity or understanding from this humble palace slave.'"
"Good. You're done." One of the sound guys said
"Great!" I said as I ran back to change into my first costume.
I hate quick changes. I remembered my fifth grade school musical. I was in the ensemble and I had to quick change. I had my costume backwards the whole scene. I had to make sure that didn't happen again.
"Hey, Audrey," someone called out
I turned around to see who it was. I saw no one there.
"Yeah? What's up?" I asked
I know it wasn't one of the guys because there was no one in the guys dressing room. The rooms were separated by a gliding door.
"Do you think you could teach me how you get into character?" The person asked
"Uh....sure....who are you?"
"It's Gwen. I'm in your theatre 1-2 class."
I sighed of relief. I thought I was hearing things.
"Oh! Okay. Sure."
So...with that said and done, I helped Gwen get into her character, even though she was in ensemble.
"Okay. I'll keep that in mind. Thanks, Audrey." Gwen said
"No problem, it was my pleasure."
I went out to the main theatre room behind the stage and saw everyone conversing. Hmmm....I wonder how much longer until we actually start. I looked at the time. Five past four o'clock. Huh, we should've started by now. I went to my friends and started talking to them.
"....so what I heard was that he actually likes someone else..." My friend Stacy told my friend Alyssa
"Who likes who?" I abruptly joined in the conversation
