The walk to Castallek's office was fairly quiet. Occasionally Kita would groan or slump against the wall, but I got her to keep walking every time. After a few more minutes of walking we ran into a young looking Dwarf holding a map, seemingly lost.
"Hey little buddy, you lost?" Kita asked, leaning over him.
"Yes, actually." He responded in a confused tone, "Can you point me to the headmaster's office?"
"Oh yeah, we're actually going there anyway." I chimed in.
The dwarf nodded and followed us down the hall, mostly in silence. Kita decided to break the silence.
"So...how about introductions?" She said awkwardly, "I'm Kita Bellamy."
"My name's Mysl Nanoe. Who's the other kid though?"
"Well..." She scratched her head.
"I don't have a name." I said, calmly.
"Well that's not normal." The dwarf said casually. I gave him an irritated look.
"How about a different subject!" Kita said nervously, "How about you tell us about yourself?"
"I just transferred from the academy in Nelson. Been tryin' to figure out where the office is for the past hour." The dwarf continued, "This place is big."
"For you, maybe." I joked.
"Where's Nelson at?" Kita asked.
"It's right on the New Zealand frontline, my parents are military so we move around a lot."
"You don't really sound like a kiwi to me." She tilted her head.
"That's because I was originally born here in the polity, a little city called Losal. It's in southern california." Mysl stated proudly, "It's one of the only dwarven cities left on the continent, I'm proud to call myself a citizen of it."
"I'm sure it's a great place!" Kita said, smiling. Her smile almost seemed forced. Is she hiding something from us?
"Well, it's not the best place actually. Losal is like a coconut, you need to dig deeper to get to the nice parts."
"Like Vanka then." I said quietly.
"I haven't been around the city much, but sure, why not?" He responded.
"You're not missing much." I said.
"Oh hey, we're here!" Kita said, still forcing her smile.
"So, now that we're here, why are you two here? You seem like an upstanding pair of students."
Kita's face quickly turned sour as she gritted her teeth and groaned. Mysl shrugged and knocked on the office door, very loudly. His knock was so powerful that it echoed throughout the hallway, Kita and I tightly clutched our ears.
"AGH! Did you need to knock so loudly?!" I shouted at him.
Mysl shrugged, "That's just how I knock."
Loud footsteps came from the other side of the door. It opened to reveal a large, 10 foot tall Drakon. Headmaster Castallek was unique for a Drakon. Rather than the green or blue scales of most Drakons, he has crimson red scales. His wings and tail are also longer than most of his kin. His intimidating appearance is heavily offset by his small, round glasses and walking cane, which happens to be a warhammer.
"Ah, my two favorite students. And you've made a friend. Have we met?" Castallek spoke in a scratchy, elderly sounding voice.
"Hello there! I was looking for professor Castallek?" Mysl said, unfazed by his intimidating appearance.
