I suddenly woke up to the sound of someone hitting the floor and grunting loudly.

"ACK!" Kita shouted, "GET OFF ME YOU LITTLE-!"

I turned to look, Kita was trying to pull a cat off of her chest. The cat screeched loudly.

"REOOOOOOOOWRRR!!!!!!!!!!" the cat hissed, biting her ear.

"AGH!" Kita pulled the cat off, which quickly backed into the corner of the room and hissed. I sat up from my bed and watched the antics ensue.

"...Is that...Daron's cat?" I rubbed my eyes. It was indeed Professor Daron's cat. A large, persian cat with a white coat and blue eyes was meowing and hissing at Kita from the corner of our room. How'd he get in here?!

"Little bastard ambushed me right as I was about to get up!" Kita growled, standing on all fours in a similar position to the cat. I started snickering.

"Wow Kita, you and that cat are a lot alike."

"Shut up!" Kita tried to wrangle the cat.

"That's not how you do it, Kita." I sighed, stretching and getting out of bed. I kneeled down and slowly approached the cat, wagging my finger at him. He sniffed and rubbed against my hand.

"See? You need to approach him calmly. And then you do this because he's obviously just trying to lower my guard." I pulled out a clip and snapped it on the scruff of his neck, making him go limp.

"Easy as that." I smiled, gently cradling the cat. "I'm gonna take him back to Professor Daron."

Kita frowned, "I hate that guy so much."

I quietly left the dorm and headed towards Daron's classroom. Daron happens to be the youngest professor in the academy, only a year older than me. He was originally just a classmate, but he eventually became a professor after the previous one died of old age. He's done a good job so far, but Kita hates his guts for some reason, I don't get why. After a few minutes of walking, I arrived at his office.

"Knock knock!" I shouted, while knocking.

"Who's there?" A soft, gentle voice came from the other side.

"This thing." I pushed the door open, placed his cat on a desk, and unclipped his neck. The cat quickly got up and stretched.

Daron came out from inside of a closet. He's a handsome young human man, with light skin and blue eyes. He also has long, yellow hair.

"Ah, Mendax. I was wondering where he went. Where'd you find him?" Daron picked the cat up and cradled him.

Kita suddenly walked into the room and leaned against the doorway, giving Daron a disapproving glare. She was covered in bandages and still wearing her casual outfit.

"Oh. I see." He smiled sheepishly, "My fault, I accidentally casted a spell that let him walk through walls. It probably stopped working before he could leave the room."

"Don't sweat it, he didn't cause any permanent damage." I said, smiling.

Kita looked at me, crossing her arms and frowning.

"What? I said 'permanent damage' didn't I?"

Kita sighed, "Whatever, I need to talk with him anyways."

She looked at him, then back at me, "In private."

I reluctantly stepped out of the room and waited outside, closing the door behind me.

I decided to not be nosey. I could've mimicked Kita's sonics spell, but I probably would've messed it up anyways.

Several minutes later, Kita stomped towards the door and kicked it open.
