1. SCARLET

Humans were at war against Wolves for centuries, it faced a divine horror that many humans were slaughtered. Women and girls who never had families were sold off,being maids,food menu or sex slaves under the grasp of male shifters.

Men would  be used as training tools to Alphas,they would also be used as slaughter toys on special accusations.
It was a world with no balance nor peace among the two. Enemies that longed to be on war but they came a time when the Moon Crest decided they had enough of there revenge and they left the humans in poverty.. Like from were I came from.

I belonged to this abounded town called the Dark Vill,its an area were we had no electricity, food nor water,everyone had to survive on bread and rain water. A lot of people were homeless, building in literal damage,diseases and death was all on us everyday and I was growing out of it as a normal thing but deep down I was traumatized.

Thinking about it made me cry alot.

"Scarlet." Mom called out to me. She was the only family I had not after what happened to dad.

"Coming mother." I stood up on the cold dust floor,we were living in a cave a dark on for that matter.

She was carrying some firewood on her back,I rushed over worried she might collapse on the floor with her condition.

"Mom. You're not supposed to be doing this in your condition. You're ill,don't worry I can handle it." I say to her,helping her remove the long sticks off her back.

She warmly smiled over to me. "Nonsense dear, it would be dangerous out there with Wolves around. Don't worry about my illness,worry about yourself." She firmly felt my cheek,my mom was the only one who loved me like any other person, she had short brown hair,dark brown eyes and wore some old ragged dress. I'd do anything but a girl like me can't make a difference.

"I just don't want you to leave me too." I got a bit emotional, she suffered a lung cancer and anyday I feel she won't make it.

"Aww honey-" she pulled me close and led me inside the cave,a candle was lit up and traps of clothings on the floor just to make it seem comfortable as we sat down together.

"Don't worry I'm here honey. I will always be here for you." Her gentle touch on my long hair,she always complimented how beautiful I was but I never saw it the way she does.

"I'm really scared." I whisper as the sun was setting, once the sun sets,shifters begin to rogue the Vill and our cave wasn't really safe.

"I know it's scary out there and what I saw when I was with the other women terrified me,I can't tell you how much I want to hide you from the cruel world." Her voice husky and nervous.

"Regardless of what the world is facing,I still believe there is hope for you even among shifters" I grunt knowing I'd have to see people dying everyday and she still believes there is hope?

"Mom shifters are the reason we lost dad. How can you say such a thing?" I pull away and wipe my tears away It still haunts me how dad died.

I hate it when she brings up the topic.

"Hope? You seriously believe there is hope? If it wasn't for dad risking his life for us...we wouldn't even be here." I argued and she calmly breathes.

"Correction if it wasn't for the wolf that's saved you seventeen years ago...you wouldn't be alive scarlet." I turned over to her,my glare confused and puzzled.

"Wha..what do you mean?" I asked. She drew closer to me, held my hands firmly.

"I need to tell you something. I knew maybe one day you would realize not to criticize all shifters." Her pale face looked over to me and her expression didn't want to confess.

"When you were just a baby,a sudden war broke out. Your father led a certain group of troops that were in control of protecting the Dark Vill against the Wolves." I carefully noticed how she told this and it sounds the truth.

"When it happened, a fire happened in our old home, you where in that fire I wanted to save you but your father didn't allow me because he was afraid I would die too. I couldn't let my daughter die in that fire,my love for you was serious that I needed a miracle just so I could hear your cries that you were still alive." She began to sob as though I wasn't right next to her.

"But when your father kept on pulling me back from the fire,a white wolf sprinted into the fire. Your father wanted to run away but I couldn't help but wonder why she jumped in the fire. Within seconds,it jumped out,it had a rag in its mouth,something was dangling down and it moved. I immediately rushed over and noticed it was you,you cried your lungs out." She smiled for a moment, whipping her tears away.

My body was stunned and shocked at this news. I failed to even think that a monster just saved me.

"The wolf saved me from the fire." I was out of words and noticed how my mom finally took control to protect my life.

"Yes,she did. It was a female shifter that saved you." She spoke.

"A female shifter? That's new." I was still curious with everything.

"Yes scarlet, I realized she was not just any shifter but she belonged to a Royal family or tribe." But what made her save me was the real question.

"What happened to her?" Mom's glare turned glummy and broken.

"She died. Your father shot her right in front of me when she placed you on the ground." I wasn't delighted to hear that and it really hurt me that I felt terrible.

"Your father never decided to look what was within her. She shot without thought then when I screamed to stop him it was to late to save her then another wolf killed him with one swift."  I noticed how calmly she said it.

"Do you think dad deserved to die?" I asked nervously.

"Honestly Scarlet I don't know what to say or think about it." She thought.

"Then I was reason that dad died." I frowned. "No no honey,it's just something I haven't out it all together. Otherwise I'm happy the wolf saved you it just goes to show they are good people out there. Never judge them to quickly." She advises me but I likely felt the urge to forgive the monsters for still slaughtering people.

"But why are they still trying to make us extinct?" I asked her.

"Maybe it has something to do to that wolf that saved you. I'm not certain but do you know there is an Alpha out there?" I blinked curiously.

"No. You didn't tell me." This was driving insane.

"I believe there is an Alpha telling his Wolves to kill us. A pack can't be led without an Alpha. So I discovered it certainly." My mom was very smart that I decided to follow along.

"You think?" I speak.
"Not certain but it can be the reason."

I never thought to wonder if a truce was to happen to a Wolves and humans but something about what mom said made it clear that there is hope.

Suddenly just when all was well,people began screaming and being in terror,howls roamed the night and mom quickly pulled my arm as we went out of the cave I saw horror.

Dead bodies all over the ground, large Wolves attacking anyone they saw.

"Scarlet!"

Everything started to go in slow motion. My glare landed on mom as she pushed me away from her...her words slow as she said to me.

"I love you. Be safe."

My heart collapsed as a wolf ripped her hand off then ripped off her head off as blood was everywhere the fire blinding me.

"Mother!" I  screamed as I cried as she died in my eyes. I had no choice but to run for my life.

Everything becomes blurry and I collapsed on the ground.
