Orion entered the Orphanage canteen and ate his dinner. His body was going through the motions while his mind was wandering elsewhere.

As he lay on his bed, he decided, 'Instead of focusing on covering all types, I should focus on utility and roles that Pokemons can cover. Kinda like in the games but I will have to consider practical uses as well. After all, there is no point in having someone like Shuckle as the team's tank despite its ridiculous defence stats as no one will be able to hide behind his small body.

As for the roles, I have created a basic framework.
I need 1 or 2 strong physical attackers that can fight in close range.
And I will also need a special attacker to attack from mid-range.
1 tank is an absolute necessity. I need a safe place to hide.
I need to have a Psychic pokemon who can teleport my entire team with ease. In fact, this might be the most crucial role considering how unsafe the places outside safe cities are.
And of course, I need a meta Pokemon. A Pokemon that is good at everything and has ridiculously high base stats.

Apart from the above, I also need some utility Pokemons. That is 1 Pokemon that can surf and dive underwater, 1 Pokemon that can carry me and fly in the sky, 1 Pokemon that can fight underground, 1 healer and maybe 1 support Pokemon to set up Spikes, Stealth Rocks, buff allies and debuff enemies.

That's around 11 Pokemons… Though it is possible that some Pokemons can take multiple roles. Like if Dragonite is my meta choice, then he can also fly me around or if my tank is Ground type, then he can fight underground as well.

Anyways, this world doesn't have a restriction of just carrying 6 Pokemons while travelling in the wild. So it shouldn't be an issue to fill all the roles. The only instances where there is a limit on the number of Pokemons that can be used are during League Tournaments, Gym Battles and friendly battles with other trainers.

Now, the important question… Which Pokemons should I choose in these roles?'

A smile formed on Orion's face as he thought, 'Well, if I had to make a wish and get the ones I want, then…
Mewtwo is an ideal choice for the psychic
Arceus for the Meta
Kyogre to fight in water
Groudon to fight under the ground
Rayquaza to fly on
Darkrai as the special attacker
Regigigas and Zekrom for physical attackers
Mew as the support
Xerneas as the healer
Zygarde as the tank…'

Orion kept lying in the bed for a few minutes. Unfortunately, nothing happened. He let out a sigh and thought, 'So unlucky. No one grants me any wish. And I didn't even get any system or AI chips like in those transmigration stories I read. What a bummer!'

He removed those thoughts from his head and thought, 'Jokes aside, I might not be able to collect the team that I want. Instead, I'll have to create a team with the Pokemons I come across.

One good thing due to these dangerous circumstances is that the League wants everyone to become a trainer. So they give every ten-year-old their first Pokemon for free.

Unfortunately, they don't give the 3 starters. Instead, they catch a lot of common low level pokemons and give them to the youngsters through a lottery system. So it is possible to have a very weak Pokemon as the starter.

Only Professor Oak gives the 3 starters every year. But they are reserved for the 3 most talented youngsters from Pallet town. As someone from Saffron City, I'm already out of the competition. Kinda sucks. I wanted to start with Charmander.

Leaving aside the Legendaries, I'd ideally like my team to be full of strong pokemons like Pseudo Legendaries, Lucario, Charizard, Zoroark, Gyarados and so on with Platinum talent. But that would need a crazy amount of luck. Something I shouldn't count on.

The best way forward will be to build different teams. I will create my first team with Pokemons that are easily available in Kanto. This team will need to be well-balanced with the roles that I decided above along with a decent type coverage.

Once I become an Advance rank trainer, or better yet, an Elite trainer with this team, then with their help, I can build my dream team. A team with strong and high talent pokemons that can help me become a Champion rank trainer!

Of course, if possible, I should try to catch some of the Pokemons that I want in my dream team while creating my first team.

One obvious choice is Gyarados. Magikarp can be easily found everywhere in Kanto. I can just catch hundreds or even thousands until I find one with silver or gold talent.

Gastly is another one I can try to capture. Abra will be difficult to find and catch, but I should catch it as well if I can. And if the Safari zone has the Dratini, then it is a must catch as well.

If I can get these 4 with Platinum talent, then the journey to the champion rank can become much easier. Though it's fine even if I can't. After all, I have an entire lifetime ahead to create a strong team.'

With a smile on his face, he fell asleep.

[A/N: I suppose that's enough monologue. You'll see more interactions in the upcoming chapters. Though there might still be monologues from time to time.]
