Chapter 3

The night of the Children in Need performance finally arrived and the seven were waiting nervously in the wings. On cue, they headed onto stage and took up their positions.

Rochelle and Terry announced them and the crowd screamed as the countdown started.

"10... 9... 8... 7... 6... 5... 4... 3... 2... 1."

The music kicked in and it was all systems go. At one point, Paul and Hannah were dancing with each other, grinning wildly, at another, Hannah gently placed her hand on Paul's shoulder as they moved. When the performance ended and they all hugged, Paul couldn't resist the opportunity to touch Hannah, stretching his arm around Jo in order to get his fingertips to Hannah's waist. They had a quick chat with the hosts before heading backstage to recover before their next appearance much later in the evening, or very early in the morning, depending on how you looked at it.

On a high, the band headed back to their changing rooms and Paul immediately grabbed a drink before collapsing onto one of the sofas. Hannah followed suit, slumping down next to him.

"I'm knackered!" She announced to the room, getting groans of agreement from the rest of the band. Feeling brave, she rested her head on Paul's shoulder, not moving until he needed to use the toilet. He patted her knee before getting up and leaving the room.

The seven of them hung around backstage until it was time to head back out and take part in the 'Best Club 7' quiz that had been thrown together. Bradley, Jon and Rachel made it through to the final, leaving Jo, Tina, Hannah and Paul to move to the seats at the side of the stage. As they moved towards the seats, Hannah walked slowly, hanging back so she could sit next to Paul.

Whilst the final question was being answered, Hannah and Paul took the final two seats, with Hannah shifting herself slightly towards Paul. Unaware of the cameras cutting to the four of them every now and then, they started chatting, heads close together so as not to disturb anyone with their conversation. They were so engrossed, they didn't notice when Jon was announced as the winner. The camera panned round to the four of them and caught the moment when Paul and Hannah realised they should be clapping rather than chatting.
