Back in business

Chapter 1

Zenitsu

It has been two weeks since we defeated Muzan, two weeks since I found out that I had feelings for Tanjiro. But deep down I knew that I could never deserve someone so brave and compassionate like him. After all I was just a cry baby who flinched at even the slightest sound and besides, it was very evident that he liked Kanao Chan. They spend a lot of time together. He also only saw me as a friend and nothing more. It hurt to stay this close to him. So I kept myself locked up in my room and only came out if needed. Eventually I decided to leave and started to pack my bags. I also didn't want anyone to search for me so I wrote a letter addressed to no one and placed it on me bed and left.

Two years later

"ZENITSU SAAANNNNN!!!" A little voice called out to me. I got out of my small house and saw a little girl with black hair. Her name was Yukino Arima, she was the youngest daughter of the village chief. "Ohayo Yuki Chan" I tell her. "Ohayo" She replies, dragging the o. "Ne San asked me to tell you to come to the forest after breakfast. She says that she saw someone weird last night in there and wants to have a look at it with you" She continued. Her Ne San, Kagura Arima was a friend of mine. I had saved her from falling off her death, so she helped me by convincing her father to let me stay here.

Yuki Chan runs off to play with her friends while I went back inside and took out my old katana whose blade was completely wrapped in cloth. I had a feeling that this forest adventure wasn't going to be safe. I slowly remove the cloth and unsheathe it revealing a golden blade on which I could see the reflection of myself. I was not the person I was two years ago. I had changed. My hair was longer and I had colored it to look like it did before I had been struck by lightning. I no longer flinched at the smallest noice. I also took my time and learned the other five forms of Thunder breathing, since I felt bored. I was also braver. Anyone who knew me in the past would never be able to recognize me.

I let out a heavy sigh. I then put the sworn back in its sheath and wrap the cloth back on the katana. Then I kept it down and ate some breakfast. After breakfast I took the katana and went to the first to meet up with Kagura Chan. Minutes of walking later I saw Kagura Chan, sitting in a low branch of a tree. If I had been into girls, I would have fallen for her, no matter what. She had a petite demeanor but a headstrong behavior. She would march into trouble without any second thoughts. In the past two years, I'm sure that I had saved her at least twenty times.

Just as she saw me, she jumped off the branch and ran towards me. "How long are we going to be here?" I ask. "Until we find the weird looking man" She replied. She then shows me two large containers, with both lunch and dinner. I just smile at her. We then start to search for the so called "weird man." Till evening we had no luck. But when the sun set I heard a rustling sound behind us. I immediately pushed Kagura Chan and took out my katana from the cloth I had covered it in. I recognized the sound. I was sure that he was a demon. But demons were supposed to be dead.

I was brought out of my thoughts when the demon launched at us. They should've been dead after the death of Muzan, yet here was one standing before me, thirsty for blood. I unsheathed my katana and launched an attack towards him. "Thunder breathing: first form, Thunder clap and flash" and immediately he was beheaded.

Kagura Chan looked at me shocked and scared. "W... what was that? and how did you kill it?" She asked, almost sobbing. "The was a demon. Demons devour human to get more power. The more humans the demon eats the more powerful it gets. Their weaknesses are sunlight and bring beheaded using a ninchirin sword. There are people who are trained to kill demons using breathing techniques. They are called demon slayers. I was one in the past and that's how I was able to kill it" I explain it to her.

She looked at me, stunned. Suddenly I felt a sharp pain on my head, like something was pecking me on the head. I wave my hands around my head to shoo away whatever was pecking me. It stopped pecking me and sat on my shoulder. "Chuntaro!" I exclaimed, happy to see the little sparrow. I notice a piece of paper on his leg and slowly removed it from his feet. As I was doing so,Kagura was watching me curiously. It was a letter from master Ubuyashiki. I open it and it was a letter addressed to me. It read:

To Zenitsu Agatsuma,
This letter is to inform you that Muzan has been reincarnated and we would like your help to fight against him.

I stared at the paper not knowing how to respond. Kagura suddenly snatched the paper from my hand and started reading it. After reading it she looked at me, shocked and asked "are you going to leave?"
