Chapter 3

Tanjiro pov

Two years ago

We had just defeated Muzan and were peacefully living in the butterfly mansion. I and Inosuke helped Kanao open up more And Nezuko was getting used to being a human. Aoi was constantly scolding Inosuke for stealing food and causing trouble. And then there was Zenitsu who had shut himself away from us. Most of time he would be in his room, only to come out if there was an emergency or for food.

Today I go to his room, keen on bringing him out. I knock twice and don't get any answer. I knock again, which was responded by nothing. So in the end I gave up knocking and retired to push open the door, which to my surprise opened easily. I look around to find the time empty. Zenitsu went out, huh I thought to myself. But then I notice a paper in the bed. I go closer and find out that I was a note.

To anyone who reads this,

I am leaving butterfly mansion and don't want anyone looking for me. You guys are all great, even Inosuke but me, I'm just useless and I'm sure that you guys will do better without me

I feel a whole wave of emotions crashing down on me. I couldn't think right. Zenitsu was gone and ask the time I've wasted telling myself that I will confess my feelings to him just went down the drain. That's right I've had feelings for Zenitsu ever since the fight at entertainment district and now I couldn't even confess to him. He was gone now.

Present

Me and Inosuke were patrolling a forest not too far from butterfly mansion. A week ago we received a message from master Ubuyashiki that Muzan had been reincarnated and along with him maybe even the upper moons. Me, Inosuke,Kanao, Rengoku San's younger brother and some random slayers were promoted to the place of pillars. Now there were eight pillars but originally it was supposed to be nine. I had started to believe that Zenitsu would return and that he would be the ninth Hashira. "Hey Gompachiro, look at those two women, one of them is bleeding" Inosuke said breaking me from my thoughts.

I look towards where he had pointed to see two women with black hair. Both of them were sleeping under a tree. One of them had a katana and was also bleeding from what looked like a small cut. It was almost sunset, the time when demons are more active, so I told Inosuke check the perimeter and to went towards the women to wake them up.

I was about to wake them up when the woman with the katana woke up and on instinct unsheathed the it and held it protectively in front of her. The katana looks familiar, I thought. I then hold my hand forward indicating that I meant no harm. She looks at me weirdly for a moment and stood up and started to put the katana back into the sheath. That's when I got a closer look at the katana. It looked awfully similar to Zenitsu's katana. Zenitsu, it was the name of the person that I had loved and wasn't able to forget. The day he left I was heart broken. I thought that he trusted us more and would stay with us. I thought that I could eventually build up confidence and confess someday, but alas he left.

I heard a small cough which brought me out from my thoughts. "I'm Tanjiro Kamado. I'm sorry for waking you up but it's not safe in here there are- demons, I know" she interrupts me. "Then why are you sleeping here at sundown?" I ask her. "I'm going to meet master Ubuyashiki. I'm going to be the Thunder Hashira as a replacement for my sensei" She replies. Thunder Hashira, it was the only word that my brain had registered at that time. He used Thunder breathing too. "Your sensei, what's his name?" I ask. "Zenitsu Agatsuma" She replied, which shocked me. He was never the type to look after Children, but now that his student is right in front of me, it didn't seem impossible.

My eyes struck on the katana on her waist which reminded me of him again. I promised Nezuko that I'd move on from him and I believed that I did until she showed up looking just like him. She was like the braver, female version of Zenitsu. But then there was a smell, and I immediately knew that a demon was near.

Hey guys, sorry for the short chapters. I am currently writing my own story, so the fanfics end up having short chapters. Also I'll try not to rush this story like I did to my last one. Byeeeeeee
