Zenitsu pov
Genya,Akaza and I have been walking for a long time now and I was starting to get impatient. "Why are we taking so long?" I asked almost whining. "We are trying to avoid most demons and besides we also have to find your friend," Akaza said as a matter of fact. I let out an annoyed grunt.
"Why should we avoid demons when you're an upper moon?" I asked again.
He looked at me annoyed. "Because I am not the only upper moon who's reincarnation was finished" He replied.
"An upper moon?" I asked again.
He looked at me with a scowl. "Yeah, upper moon six. He also uses a breathing form. So that's bit of a problem."
Kaigaku. My mind whispered. The description fit him perfectly. I could practically feel myself scowling at the thought of facing him again.
"What's with the scowl?" Genya asked shyly. Genya was always shy among women which I found very cute.
"The upper moon Akaza San mentioned was my mentor's senior. In the end my mentor was the one who slayed him" I replied. Even though Akaza San was in front of us, he had heard me. He stopped for a moment and turned to look at me. He looked like he wanted to ask me something but decided against it and continued walking
"Your mentor?" Genya asked. I hummed in response.
"His name is Zenitsu Agatsuma. Maybe you guys are acquainted" even though I wanted it to sound like a question it came out as a statement. He looked at me for a bit but then ran to catch up to Akaza San. I soon followed behind.
After almost an hour of walking we finally stopped in front of a huge door. Akaza San asked to be silent and wait until he checked if the coast was clear. As he opened the door I could smell the rotten smell of flesh and blood. The smell was so bad that we could even detect it without Tanjiro's amazing sense of smell.
I turned to look at Genya who was making a face of disgust. I let out a light chuckle. He turns to me with a glare which I returned with a smirk. He then flipped me off and I returned the favor. He then flipped me off again and turned to ignore me. I let out a light grumble and turned my focus to Akaza San.
We watched as a demon came in front of him and bowed down. I mean of course he did after all Akaza San was San upper moon. That's when I heard a breath behind my back. Shit. I heard it too late. And before I knew it I felt a sharp pain in my stomach and I had fallen face down.
The sound of me falling caught the attention of the other demon who was with Akaza San. That demon quickly launched itself towards Genya but was stopped when Akaza San stopped it mid way. That's when I realized that I was the only one who could permanently kill them.
Akaza San was a demon and Genya didn't have any weapons. Shit. Genya pushed the demon off me. I took the opportunity and quickly got on my feet.

With that I slayed both of them. But that's when I heard the shriek of another demon.

I went towards the sound without even thinking twice and slayed the female demon. That's when I saw Tanjiro on the floor almost beaten up. I rushed towards his side, worried. I started in rambling only find him staring at me strangely. Then I realized I've been talking in my actual voice.
Fuck I screwed up. I hope that he wouldn't have noticed and lend him my hand for him to stand up. Then I apologized for not reaching earlier to help him but all he did was stare at my face in daze.
