Chapter 15: weird dreams

"Please stop! Don't come any closer!"

"You're mistaking me for someone!"

"Help!, please someone help!" Serene cries fell on deaf ears of the ashen skinned hollow eyes and possessed looking man, he kept on approaching her with his hands outstretched as she keep crawling backward till her back hit a tombstone blocking her escape.

She watch with wide fearful eyes and wild erratic beating heart as the man long growing talons came closer to her neck, she felt her breath hitch and everything stopped, flowing in a very slow motion.

The end has come, she's gonna die so why is she afraid, why is she running away. Is it that no matter how much you wanna die you must still shiver and fret in the face of death?, is it because this death is sudden and unexpected?, she wanted to die, sometimes she still have those ugly thoughts, but not this way at all, not by someone's hand and especially not by someone creepy who doesn't look fully human, unnatural pale grey skin, black sunken eyes, fallen and retreating thin feeble strand of hair, bony figure and long nails superseeding human nail growth.

"All the 'ARIOLUS' that defy the lord must die!",

"Bang!, Bang!".

Serene's heart skip in fright again and relief, her eyes widen more as she watch the man's talon hand inches away from her neck stopped after the sound of the gunshot and fall to the ground with his talons retracting and skin drying dark ashened.

Her wild beating heart continued to pound in it confinement loud in her ears as she watch what she could only come to term with as,the man's soul leaving his body, a pale gray ethereal and unreal light in the shape of him with his features and looks, he look around confused and then his eyes dart back to her and to his body before he let out a soul shattering scream which for some reasons only she could hear, he tried to run to her from mid air when a void open behind him and he was sucked into it.

Serene scared out of her wit with what she jus experienced, her hands still clutching on to her ear look around fearfully with bated breath in search of the soul.

"It..it's a soul, I definitely saw it, No! Am hallucinating, I must be!" She rambled disbelieving what she saw, of course who will believe her?. From the man's description to his action, his soul leaving his body and the black void that sucked him. This is beyond the human mind what she saw.

And what did the man say before he died 'All 'ARIOLUS' that defied the lord must die?' What's that?' Serene asked herself before she was broke out of her disambled thoughts.

"Hey lady, are you okay? Did he hurt you?" She quickly look up to the voice, two policemen in uniform stood before her gazing at her with worried looks.

"We're sorry he scared you, he's a criminal on the run and he has killed alot, you lucky and the only way to save you is to kill him, cause he was a prisoner who ran away from the asylum..." their voices got lost as she start to feel more of the eerie gloom of her surrounding more detectable to her now than before.

The ambulance parked and paramedics got out carrying the dead body and leaving with the two policemen after they asked her questions, she became more conscious of her surrounding and she look around the gloomy graveyard, she quickly followed the retreating vehicles and fled away from the graveyard with a heavy pouncing headache and blurry eyesight.

"Panting!, panting!" Serene ran all the way back to the small apartment she come to live in without stopping.

"Bang!" She close the door hurriedly and out of breath, she slid down to the ground her back still pressed and leaning on the door as heavy breaths slid out of her mouth.
