Chapter 18: Council members

"Hello mrs. Zara Cyrus am Serene Louis"

"You came on time" mrs. Zara the manager and owner of Zara's cuisine nodded as a form of greeting to the dimmed star whose reputation has gone down the drain but choose not to jugde her based on the media just as her favourite chef requested which luckily to the dimmed star's recent unlucky turn of events for her, the boss of the cuisine isn't judgemental person and doesn't define people by what the media states or human gossips.

They quickly step into her office to conduct the interview

"So..why should I hire you ms. Louis after the scandal that spread 'bout you?" Mrs. Zara started by testing the water.

"I believe those scandals have nothing to do with my talents in the kitchen.." Serene's witty side got unintentionally unlocked as she answered with a newfound confidence of an experienced person that she almost lost.

"And am not here sitting before you as the actress Serene Louis but a Serene Louis who's starting anew in a carrier as a chef, I hope you'll give me a chance to start anew.."

"You got the job!" Silence followed the other woman's enthusiastic exclamation and Serene's face morphed into confusion as she process her words before breaking into a huge smile even her eyes twinkle like someone whose sight grasp the hand of hope not just string.

"Thank you so much mrs. Zara"

"I hope you won't disappoint me lady.."

"I won't! I assure you that" she quickly interjected with a wide a grin and they exchanged handshakes after discussing her shift period before she left with monday set as her first day.

She walk out of the restaurant happily, her hood covering her face as she saunter the city street enjoying the views she had missed when she was lavishly and fashionably living.

A tall man with a black cloak covering his body and face that was also covered in a silver intricated mask walk around a corner in slow strides one hand clutching a sword at his side attached to his hips and the other hand hold a green faint glowing gem, some people who noticed his weird custom choose to ignore him while others stare at him in seconds of confusion before he walk away with his long legs.

Suddenly the green emerald gem vibrates and glowed brighter as if giving a signal which the man understood, the person they were searching for is close by and he quickly start to run to his target with the stone as a guide and pushing everyone standing on his path without second glance.

Turning sharply to another corner and there his target was standing across the road and looking around her with her bottle green eyes sparkling as if illuminated by light, the eye color symbol of the house "Siuol".

Goosebumps stood on Serene's body and an unexplainable feeling of dread and doom suddenly overcome her and her heart beat skyrocket as she look around her in alarm before a feeling suddenly zap in her and directing her attention across the road where a man in weird cloak covering his body and silver masked face stood with one hand curved around his torso clutching what look like a sword while the other outstretched hand hold an emerald stone that shone brighter making the people around him move away and some stare in awe and disgusting greed to have it.

Fear immediately consume her as she saw his dark eyes bore into her and immediately her fight or flight sense activated which obviously choosed the latter and the match of cat and mouse started.

Startled gasps and curious eyes of onlookers followed the two as Serene run probably for her life which she has no idea why the weird custom man was chasing her but every sense in her scream danger and urgency to flee. Her feet burn inside her shoes cause of the speed she's using without break and the pressure exerted, her heart beats faster as if ready to jump out of it confinement from fear and adrenaline, and her heavy breathing came out ragged with burning throat from dryness and tear filled eyes of panic as her brain try to process why she's been chased like a criminal and if it's the same man that wanted to kill her that night or another person sent by the same person who ordered the first one and who will it be other than her only nemesis John and Rosy.
