The thing you need to know about old legends, is that the story is never finished. There may be no pages left to turn, but there is always more to the journey.

The story of the Six-Eared Y/N is one such tale. A simian lost to time and legend. The infamous younger sister of the Six-Eared Macaque.

A tale of sorrow and heartbreak. Where the two siblings were almost inseparable. They were each other's shadows. The elder guides the younger safely through all their hardships, shielding her from the cruelty of the world.

But when the Six-Eared Macaque joined the brotherhood, he was not able to bring along his sister. Leaving the young simian to fend for herself.

But, the young shadow could not control her powers without her brother's assistance. It is said this caused her to lose control and go on a massacre until she was caught by none other than Erlang, a powerful deity who doesn't play by the Jade Emperor's rules.

After this point, the legends obscure what happened to the young shadow. Some tellings say she was killed then and there, murdered in cold blood without ever seeing her brother again.

Others say the Gold Star of Venus intervened before she could be killed, instead making her Erlang's apprentice. It is said that in this version she went on to become an immortal and an equally loose canon who only played by the rules when it benefitted her.

Still... No one truly knows the truth. And as the centuries went by, her name and memory was lost to time, forever leaving her the forgotten shadow.

"And that's it. That's all we really know about her." The librarian said, closing the book in her hands. The kids sitting around on the rug let out sounds of disappointment.

The librarian laughed softly, adjusting her glasses. She had to push her H/C bangs back so she could do it properly. "Sorry, kiddos. Story times over. Remember, come back next week for another myth to retell, okay?" She said with a kind smile.

A lot of the kids got up and went to go find their parents within the bookstore. One little girl, with black hair and a pink headband, holding onto her ginger pet cat walked up to the librarian.

"Which one of the stories is true?" She asked meekly. The E/C eyed librarian smiled softly. "No one knows. But, I like to think she did become immortal." She responded.

"I bet she was really pretty and became an awesome warrior." The girl gushed, admiration in her tone. The older felt pride swell up. "You know, if she is still alive. She can probably hear you say that. And I bet she's so grateful for kind little angels like you." They stated.

The girl smiled before someone called her name. The girl quickly said goodbye before rushing off. The librarian chuckled dryly, shaking her head as she turned to pack up her little presentation.

Y/N loved telling stories. Especially to kids. They were so pure and kind. Well, most. Some were a little rowdy but usually calmed down pretty quickly.

Though, she did dislike having to use glamours to hide her true self and keep her fate a secret. Curse that bet she made once.

Y/N's phone pinged, notifying her of a text. She pulled her phone out of her pocket and looked at the notif. One text from '⚡Mentor🐕‍🦺'.

Y/N sighed before unlocking her phone and looking at the text. She read it over a few times, thinking it over.

⚡Mentor⚡

Okay.
See you in a few days.
Lemme know how the celestial realm is doing.

Child, can you pick up an order I placed to a noodle shop?
The one called Pigsy's or something.

Y/N chuckled dryly as she shook her head. She and her mentor, Erlang, had sorta migrated out of the celestial realm a few decades ago. Both were just tired of the mind-numbing, mundane, tiresome, monotonous humdrum that was living there.

Plus, Erlang hated following the emperor's rules, not that he did anyway but the complaints were getting annoying. Plus Xiaotan Quan, Erlang's loyal fluffy companion, was needing more space to run around.

So, he packed up and decided to move into the bustling city of Megalopolis, where every day had something different. Y/N, being his apprentice, came with him. She'd also been wanting to get out of heaven.

There was nothing there for her. No friends, no allies. And everyone looked at her as if waiting for her to lose control like she did nearly a thousand years ago. WHEN SHE WAS A CHILD. Plus, it was a lot less fun since Nezha left to become the guardian of the Samadhi Fire map.

That didn't mean they didn't go on missions, no they still did. They just, didn't stay in heaven. Y/N quickly typed a response and sent it to her mentor before putting her phone in her pocket and grabbing her bag. Y/N happily strolled out of the bookstore, waving goodbye to the many kids who happily said goodbye.

The one called Pigsy's or something.

Yes, shifu.
I should be back to the apartment before five tonight.

Y/N happily walked down the street, pulling out her headphones and started listening to music. It was one of the only ways she could get from place to place in the busy city without setting off her hearing.

Sure, she could've just used a spell but most of her magic was tied up keeping up her glamours so she didn't want to. It also gave her an excuse not to interact with people unless they came up to her.

But, despite the day having gone normal so far. Y/N felt.... Uneasy. Like a calm before a storm. She didn't like it. She prayed it was just paranoia.
