-

It was high night when Murtasim and Ma Begum decided to make their way back to the Khan Haveli, during the farewell Murtasim had decided to ask Waqas and Anila permission to take Meerab out. Through a sceptical eye, Waqas glanced at Anila, although they had been very open letting their daughter grow, they were still in Pakistan, and that meant within judgmental, watchful eyes.

Surprisingly, Anila took the matter in her own hands this time, "Murtasim, I know you mean well, and I would love for you to take Meerab out, but how are you going to manage this society and their judgments."

Meerab was standing right beside her mother observing as Murtasim's face had fallen and shoulders drooped as concern glances were shared between her parents and then the sudden confidence that aroused on his face when her mother had finally expressed the reason for his concern. He was the Murtasim Khan, society was afraid of him, gossiping in the name of the Khan was considered a crime no one dared to commit. Murtasim's body relaxed, "Anila chachi, I assure you that shouldn't be a problem, I'll make sure security is around and no one will say anything, I am Murtasim Khan."

Murtasim Khan was a proud man, society didn't scare him and Waqas and Anila acknowledged that, their daughter acknowledged that as Ma Begum stood behind them proud to see her son so strong and brave. Anila agreed for Meerab's stead, and that's how one of the most memorable nights of both of their lives came to an end.

The sun hadn't even shown when Meerab woke up, her body had decided to work for itself today. Maybe it was the excitement, maybe it was the nerves, whatever it was Meerab couldn't help but to prepare way ahead of time. Her eagerness had gotten her ready three hours ahead of time. She wore an emerald green, well fitted suit with an equally green dupatta pairing that with some jewellery, a small gold necklace with a bow and mini gold jhumkis. Her hair decorated into loose curls that complimented her outfit perfectly.

"Who's the early prepared one now?" Her mother remarked as Meerab walked downstairs for breakfast earning a small chuckle from her father. She couldn't help but flush at the statement, of course her parents were going to tease her, what was she thinking.

On the other hand, Murtasim was a restless mess himself, only God knows how many times he scrambled in and out of his wardrobe to find an outfit, until finally he settled for a white dress shirt, navy blue plants and sunnies. He had never worried about clothes before, knowing whatever he wore he would look good. His heart pacing faster and faster as time ticked on the clock, everyone knew Murtasim was impatient, but this was seriously something else.

"Murtasim can you stop pacing back and forth, there's still three hours till your date." An interjection came from the corner of the living room, Ma Begum had watched his son walk back and forth 20 times now.

Murtasim took a deep breath as he made his way towards the Ahmed house. He didn't expect himself to be nervous, but after all, this was his first time ever going out with a girl. He didn't know what they liked, what they ate - scratch that, Murtasim didn't know what Meerab liked, what she ate or where she'd like to go.

As the sound of the doorbell reached the living room, Meerab practically leaped out of the sofa to attend it as her parents followed trying to hold their laughter.

Meerab's wait was finally over.

Murtasim was right in front of her with a bouquet of fresh tulips. How he had known Meerab adored tulips? Unable to hide her excitement, Meerab smiled ear to ear, feeling her face heat up with every glance she shot at him. An observant Murtasim noticed the rush of emotion over the flowers, had he known she liked them he would've ordered a whole truck.

There's always next time.
