"Are you all angry with us?" Pharm asked, sounding small. Dean immediately pulled him closer. They had just finished strategizing the plans to bring down the Council, and now that the fledgelings were feeling apprehensive. They had managed to stay away from the topic until the discussions, but this would be something they could not forget. "We are not angry lu, just..," Sean trailed off. "Disappointed," Sky said, sounding unhappy. "We don't want to lie to you and say that we are not," Fiat said. "But it's not for the reasons you think," Leo added. "Actually, if we are going to be honest with everyone, I think the truth is that we are more disappointed in ourselves," Tharn said. "What? Why?" Rain asked, sounding appalled. "Because we couldn't give you that safe space that you could confide in us," Type said. "We let you all down," White said. "As parents, we should have taken every precaution to protect you," Tae said. "Instead, you all ended up protecting us. Doesn't make us great parents now, does it?" Min said. All of them sounded sad.
The fledgelings threw themselves into their parents' arms, nearly in tears themselves. "Don't say that! You always protected us, always took care of us!" Sky said, as four of them clung to their parents. "We love you so much, that we worry. We are your parents na lu? We feel that you couldn't trust us," Type said. "Okay Pa, that's laying it on a bit thick, but we get it," Rain said, rolling his eyes, all tears forgotten, making everyone laugh. Phayu looked at his little one laughing, his bunny teeth on full display. If it was possible to love someone more every day, then that was what he felt for his mate. He looked up at the brush of butterfly wings in his mind. Rain winked at him. "What are you thinking Phi Mate? Falling in love with me again?" he asked, the merriment in his voice spilling from his eyes. Phayu burst out laughing and shook his head.
Suddenly, there was pin-drop silence. Phayu looked around to see everyone staring at him. "What?" he asked. "You laughed for no reason," Pai pointed out. "Umm..," Phayu seemed flustered which made others laugh. "This is hilarious, seeing Phayu this way!" Win said cackling. Suddenly his throat seized, as he tried to speak, a croak came out. He tried to clear his throat, with the same results. "Little one," Phayu's tone held clear warning. Win tried clearing his throat again, but it was fine this time. The fledgelings giggled. "Was that Rain?" Dean asked, laughing loudly. "Well, you are not supposed to make fun of my Phi Mate," Rain said, huffing out a breath and pouting. Phayu pulled Rain to himself and bopped his nose. "It's allowed little one, okay? Brothers can make fun of each other, yes?" Phayu said. Rain immediately put his arms around his mate. "Phi Mate, can we eat now? I am hungry," he said. Phayu nodded.
"You all need to be careful. I don't think I need to reiterate that," Vegas said, as they all stood waiting to leave. "We know Dad, and we will stay safe," Phayu said, making Vegas's eyes widen. He nodded. "Are you brats coming with us?" White asked, looking at their sons clinging to their mates. "You should go home, all of you," Dean said, earning a punch on his arm from Pharm. "We are not going anywhere," he said, glaring at his mate. "You have completed the ritual, isn't it?" Kinn asked. "Staying away from your Draugs would be next to impossible, right?" he added. "Don't look so appalled boys! We are the same!" Bun laughed. "And let me warn you. The spark will never go!" Charn said, slipping his hand around his mate's waist. "Anyway, we will leave now," Porche said.
"Wait!" The elders all had just turned to leave when suddenly Rain stopped them. "Rogues!" Sky said, as soon as Rain's eyes changed colour. Everyone looked at each other. "We need to have a battle plan before we leave here," Win said. "Why do we have to leave at all? As long as we stay inside, they can't find us," Tan said. "That's not practical Dad," Dean said. "Phi Mate, you have our powers now and you can use those. We will create a diversion from here with Uncle Sean, Uncle White, Uncle Tae and Uncle Min. You must make sure to get rid of their heart," Rain said. "Rain, no!" Type said. "Pa, you have to trust us. We will stay safe. I have promised Phi Mate that I will never put my life, or the life of my brothers in danger, and I will keep that promise," Rain said. "Now go, all of you!" Sky said, as the four of them, along with Pharm and Team's fathers moved into position on the farthest end of the property.
