The next month, I got a lot closer with Alice and Ellie. Ellie started sitting with us at lunch even, and we form a pretty tight-knit group. As for Finn, Ana, Hazel, and Stanley, we keep our distance. It's awkward at times, but for the most part, we manage to avoid each other outside of class.
A few days before Halloween, I'm sitting in calculus trying to pay attention, when I hear some of Ana and Hazel's conversation.
"Are you excited for the party?" Ana asks Hazel
"Yeah, it sounds like it's going to be a blast! I can't wait to see everyone's costumes," Hazel responds. At first, I don't think of it much, it's just another party I won't be going to.
"whose house is it at again?" Hazel asks
"Actually, it's at Finn's house," Ana replies, "His parents are away for the weekend, so he has the whole place to himself."
After I hear where it's at, I get an idea.
Ellie and Alice come and sit down at the lunch table.
"Did you guys hear about that Halloween party?" I ask them
"Which one?" Alice asks, her eyebrows raised slightly.
"Oh, you mean the one at Finn's place?" Ellie chimes in "Yeah, we heard about it."
"I know we weren't really invited but-" I get cut off
"We NEED to go," says Ellie
Alice looks at Ellie in surprise, then turns to me. "I mean, it could be fun," she says. "And it would definitely make a statement." We all share a grin, our decision made. Looks like we're crashing the party.
We all agreed to go shopping for costumes together after school. We wanted to make sure we not only had the best costumes but also that we coordinated in some way. It was our own little act of rebellion, and we wanted to do it right.
Alice
are you almost here
yeah just need to get ellie
k
"I'm LEAVING NOW," I yell so everyone knows I'm leaving
"See you later," My dad says back
I quickly grab my bag and head out the door. I get in Alice's car.
"Hey bitches!" I say, opening the door a plopping down in my seat.
"Hey!" Alice and Ellie reply in unison, grinning. "Ready to find some killer costumes?" Alice asks, starting the car. With a shared look of determination, we head to the mall, ready to make this Halloween party one to remember.
We get to a store and see the perfect opportunity. We decide to go as a black cat, a wolf, and a fox. I'm the cat, Alice is the wolf, and Ellie is the fox. We get a matching dress in black, gray, and red. We also get ears and tails to match our animals. The dresses are short and perfect for a party. We all try them on and they fit perfectly, making us even more excited for the party.
"Are we missing anything?" I ask
"We could add some face paint to enhance the look," Alice suggests. "Maybe some whiskers for you, Y/N, and some marks on our cheeks to look like our animals." Ellie nods in agreement, adding, "And don't forget some heels to complete the ensemble."
"We should definitely go for black heels," I suggest, "They'd match with all of our outfits." With our shopping list complete, we head to the checkout, eager to bring our costumes to life.
