CH 6. So That Happened.

~Martin's POV~

"I'm telling you it would be best if we stick to the outside like we have been, if we move towards downtown it's gonna be packed and if we aren't taking the car I rather be safe then sorry" I said to Talia pointing at the map we had from her and Eliana's car. "I know that but we need more than just a bit of food" She responded back circling a part of the map a bit more down from us.

"Like what?" I heard Zen say as he was stuffing his bag with a first aid kit, "More first aid kits," Talia said pointing at the bag "More personal hygiene stuff and things like that, hell weapons maybe so we aren't constantly using our abilities which attract more of the dead" Yazmin nodded in agreement. "Ok it's not like we can't find that stuff close by I really just don't wanna risk our lives" I said back to her.

"How about this we try the outside for an hour or so then if we don't find anything of use we slowly push in" Yazmin said tracing along the map, making a path. "We can't get used to this it may benefit us to be a bit more reckless" Zen said looking to me and Talia. I sighed a little, "fine I guess it can't be too bad" I said grabbing my bag off the floor. I walked over to the bar to grab some waters, "hey I know you're worried but y'all got this" I heard Eliana say from behind.

"I'm just trying to stay alive we're doing fine, Freya makes fresh fruits and vegetables, Zen powers the building and I can make weapons if needed there's no need to risk anything but if that's what they want fuck it" I said packing the waters in my bag and rubbing my head, "honestly I just don't want to worry you" I quickly realized what I said and felt my face get hot, "what?" Eliana replied.

"Uh you know I've known you forever so yea don't want to worry you" I nervously said to her, hitting her arm in a playful manner, Eliana looked at me with a puzzled face, "you ready?" Talia asked throwing her back pack over her shoulders and putting it on, "yea of course let's go" I quickly replied grabbing my bag and started to walk, making my way to the elevators.

"Well y'all be careful" Maura said walking out the stair doors and past us, "We will, we'll try to be quick" I said back to her pushing the elevator button. "No being quick can make y'all slip up take y'all's time no need to rush all we have is time now" she said walking off into the main room. I heard the elevator ding and I walked in, "they act like we never done this before" Zen said pushing the ground floor button "uh you haven't Zen" Yazmin said looking at him.

"Well yea I mean the collective we" he said back I chuckled a bit, "yea 'we' got this" I said the elevator made it to the bottom and the doors slid open revealing the empty lobby, "well let's get this done" Talia said scooting past me and Zen heading towards the doors. We followed behind her we all step outside the sun instantly beaming down on us, "fuck that sun is bright" Yazmin said covering her eyes. "Yea" I said looking around seeing if anything managed to get in, "is there anything around here?" I questioned looking at Yazmin as she rubbed her eyes "No, nothing I'll say something if I feel something" she said blinking fast and walking towards the gate doors. I pulled the doors open and saw the road ahead of us, "well let's get moving, make sure the doors are closed" I said taking a deep breath in and walked out into the dead city.

~Talia's POV~

I knocked on the door of the store we stopped at and leaned on the wall. "I hate to say it but we might need to push in Martin" Yazmin said looking into the window of the building, "Not yet we can hit the Big Five three blocks from here before anything since we need more than just food apparently" Martin said tossing a metal ball he made around, I rolled my eyes and was about to knock again until I heard glass shatter, "fuck!" I heard Yazmin yell as a zombie rolled out, Zen shot a blast of lightning at it making it explode into multiple pieces sending guts at all of us.
