Recap:
Draco’s POV:
Instantly, I felt mad. Stupid Potter… I was so close to catching that Snitch… Her smirk seemed to widen even more. “And if you don’t mind, I’ll be going now. I wouldn’t want to be late.” She added smugly, and she left the common room, leaving me to sit there staring after her like a fool.

Chapter 9 - Party
Ravenna’s POV:
It was probably just past midnight, but the party was still alive. Many of the younger students had gone off to their own dormitories, although sleep was pretty much out of the question with this much noise going on in the common room. I’m quite surprised McGonagall hasn’t come in yet, but I have an idea that she wants us to celebrate a win over Slytherin more than any other professor.
I grabbed Hermione by her arm and dragged her away from a protesting Ron. “I’m gonna go outside for a bit of fresh air, ok? It’s getting a bit too stuffy in here.” I shouted in her ear over the loud, pumping music. She nodded her head enthusiastically, before turning around to rejoin Ron on the dance floor. I chuckled quietly to myself before heading out into the corridor.
I made my way quickly outside. The wind whipped my hair away from my face, and as I walked, my cloak floated behind me like a black, silken stream. I walked carefully, but briskly towards the bridge running over one of the school’s small rivers. I was more worried about ruining my shoes then injuring myself, as I had had plenty of practice walking in heels before. I actually liked this pair and planned on keeping them.
My heels clicked on the wooden bridge as I made my way to the center. I pulled my hood down and gazed into the river below. It was a full moon tonight, and the water seemed to mirror the world above and reflect the lights coming from the school.
“I thought you had a party to go to.” His voice jolted me awake from my trance. I whirled around to come face to face with Draco. Surprisingly, he looked quite calm as he too was staring out into the water. I scowled. “What are you doing here?” I asked, slightly curious. He shrugged and turned his piercing blue gaze onto me. “I could ask you the same thing.” Was his smart reply. I dismissed him by turning back around to avoid answering his retort.
“Well? What are you doing here? I thought you had a party.” Draco questioned again. I rolled my eyes and answered, “I did have a party. I just left. It was getting to stuffy in there.” He didn’t respond. “So what were you doing here again?” I pushed. “Came to enjoy the view. I like it out here. It’s nice.” He spoke quietly and my eyebrows shot up in surprise. I had never had a conversation with Draco Malfoy where he hadn’t insulted me or where he wasn’t smirking. In fact, I’ve never heard him have a conversation with anyone without being rude. Even with Crabbe and Goyle, or even Blaise Zabini.
I turned my head around to look at him. He was still in his usually formal attire; a black suit. His hands were pushed deeply into his pants pockets, and he seemed to be in deep thought. “Well, I’m gonna go back now…” I paused, unsure of what to say. It’s not every day you have a genuine conversation with Draco Malfoy, no matter how short. “Night.” I finally conclude, turning around and start to walk away.
He doesn’t respond until I’m at the end of the bridge. “Thorne. You should wear red more often. It suits you.” I turn around and stare at him. I blink a couple of times wondering if I heard right. Even in this darkness, I swear I can make out a hint of an actual smile on his face. “Malfoy, are you ill?” I ask in bewilderment. “No.” Comes his simple answer. “Ok then…” I walk away, unsure if all of that actually happened.
I walk leisurely back towards the party. It seems to have died down a bit, but there are still a handful of people there. I spot Ginny and Harry slow dancing, and Hermione sitting on Ron’s lap talking to Seamus and Dean. I head up to the dormitories to check on Avery, to find her surprisingly asleep. I kiss her forehead and make my way back to the common room.
I decide to not tell any of them of my encounter with Draco. It seemed too weird… to foreign for it to even be real. I walk over to Hermione and tell them all that I am retiring to my room. Hermione stands up and gives me a brief hug before sitting back down. “Don’t let Malfoy do anymore funny business.” Ron warns grinning. Dean and Seamus shoot us confused and amused looks. I laugh before going over to Harry and Ginny to say goodnight. I then leave the common room and pull up my hood.
It is considerably colder out in the corridors then it was in the common room, and I walk faster towards my room. I pull my cloak tighter around my body and walk down the deserted halls, constantly acknowledging the feeling of being watched.

Draco’s POV:
I stood there for a few more minutes after Ravenna left. I was soo confused. Since when did I ever have a civil conversation with a Gryffindor? I sighed and ran a hand through my slightly unruly blonde hair. I started to slowly make my way back up to the castle, with many thoughts running through my mind.
I walked silently through the corridors, and passed the Gryffindor common room. It was well past midnight now, but I could still here music, laughter and chatter seeping through the portal. I walked on, but froze at the sound of heels clicking on the floor behind me.
I quickly slipped into the dark shadows as Ravenna walked past me. I stood there watching her until she got to the end of the hall and turned. Only then did I resume walking again, slower than before. Now I was even more confused. If it were any other Gryffindor, I wouldn’t have hidden; so why did I for her? How did I even know it was her?
Probably because of the way she held herself up; with pride, confidence and power. Her black cloak was also a dead giveaway. Not many students wore them, even at night or going out. I sighed and walked at a faster pace. By the time I got to our dorm, I could hear the water running in the bathroom. I quickly went to my own room, shut the door, and lay on my bed.

Ravenna’s POV:
I entered my room, and used magic to strip off my clothes. I went into the bathroom, but was too tired to fiddle with the knobs, so I settled for just a normal, steaming hot shower. I instantly relaxed as the hot water soothed my tires muscles. It had been a long day.
I collapsed onto my bed, and Lavinia immediately curled up by my side. I turned off the bedside lamp, and fell into a deep slumber.

A/N: I know it’s been a really long time since I’ve uploaded, but tbh, I did sort of loose interest in writing for a while. Thank you to those who have commented/voted/fanned. It is MUCH appreciated! :)
