Recap:

"But it's not Voldemort I'm in danger of. He's gone for good, I'm sure." "Then who is it that you’re in danger of??" Ginny asks what everybody wants to know. I sigh as I reply, "The Hunters."

Chapter 3 - Hunters

Ravenna's POV:

"Hunters?" Harry echoes. "What are they?" "They're exactly what they're called. Hunters. They hunt Gifted witches." I answer. I'm quite surprised that Hermione looks as clueless as the others. "Why would they do that??" Ron asked, looking somewhat confused again. I shrug my shoulders coolly and answer, "Once they start hunting, they don't stop until either they're dead, or the Gifted is. It's what they live for; what they train for." Everyone's mouths drop open, and even Luna snaps out of her dreamy trance to look shocked. "WHAT?? They want to kill you? You have got to be kidding me!" Ginny exclaims.

"Oh yeah, I'm totally joking about a bunch of murdering wizards that want to kill witches like me." I say sarcastically. "It's true though. That's why I was, and still am, unsafe here. The only place I'm completely safe, is in Merlin's Realm. Hogwarts would be the next best place, but Hunters could still penetrate these walls. In Merlin's Realm, you wouldn't be able to get past his enchantments even if your life depended on it. That's why a lot of Gifteds choose to stay there permanently instead."

When they all start staring at me, I ask, "What?" "Then why didn't you just stay there?? At least you would've been safe there with nobody able to kill you!" Hermione exclaims as if it is the most obvious thing in the world. To them, it probably is. I scoff. "I hadn't talked to you guys or my family in three years. Three bloody years! There was only one rule to staying in Merlin's Realm."

"And what was that exactly?" Ginny asks. "To not be able to see or communicate to anyone on the outside dimension. I couldn't do that. You all deserved an explanation as to where I'd been and I missed you all so much, not to mention Avery or my parents." I answer.

"Avery?" Neville asks. "My sister. She started attending last year." I say proudly. "Anyway," I continue getting back on track. "The instant I came of age, the Hunters all felt it too. Mainly just the lead one though. He would've got the strongest feeling. And also, when I stepped out of Merlin's Realm, he would've felt that too."

Ron tilts his head to the side and asks, "How would they know? Do they have powers as well?" I sigh and explain. "No, they don't have any powers out of the ordinary. They're just normal wizards. I don't quite know how they knew when I came of age and stepped out of Merlin's Realm, but they just do. It's like when Merlin knew when I had come of age myself. How he knows when other Gifteds come of age. They all just know."

"Why though? Why would they want to kill you and other Gifted witches? Is it really necessary?" Hermione asks. "Wait up a second... Are the Hunters all wizards? Are they all males?" Harry asks. I laugh and reply, "Yup, they're all wizards." Harry, once again, looks annoyed.

"The reason why they want to kill us though, is simple. They're jealous. They're jealous that it's only witches becoming Gifted. They're jealous that they don't have the powers that we possess. They think it's unfair, so they just kill us." I inform them. "Does that somehow satisfy them?? Killing innocent witches just like that! And just because they're jealous! It's barbaric!" Hermione exclaims, outraged.

"I know. Not many Gifted witches have survived the Hunters when they come looking. They have to constantly use their powers to create an illusion that they're just like any ordinary witch. Many of them get killed though, and they will kill anyone close to the Gifted to get information, although they don't like to." More questioning looks are aimed at me. "So they're murderers, but selective murderers?" Ron asks.
