Recap:

I climb into bed, use magic to close the silk red curtains on the canopy, and settle down. Lavinia gets up, and walks over me, before snuggling down near my chest. I wrap my arms around her, and kiss her on her soft head. I concentrate on the lamp, and it immediately turns off. I wrap the soft, thick blankets around us, and soon fall asleep.

Chapter 7 - Classes

Ravenna’s POV:

I wake up the next morning with the sun just coming up. Lavinia is still curled up beside me, and I get up silently, careful not to wake her. It’s quite cold now, and I start shivering slightly, so I hasten my pace.  I quickly make my way to my closet to get out a clean set of robes, and then go to the bathroom. This time, I make sure to lock the doors with my magic, so that only I could open the doors again.

I shower, get dressed, and freshen up. The only make-up I apply is a peach scented lip gloss. My naturally long lashes and dark eyes don’t need any mascara or eye liner. I open the locks using magic, and make my way back to my room. I check the time to see that it is now 7.15am. I put an extra protection spell on my room to make sure nobody can get inside, and I make sure my french doors are open for Lavinia.

I quickly do a double take, as I had nearly forgotten my wand. Technically, I really didn’t need it, but students and teachers would get suspicious if I didn’t have a wand. My wand is 10¾” and its core is unicorn hair. It’s reasonably springy and the wood is made of willow. It’s a beautiful dark coloured wand, and it has decorative ‘vines’ and ‘flowers’ entwined up the wand. The handle is very dark; almost black and is easy to grip. I use my magic to find it, and it’s in its wand case under my bed. I take it out and put it into the pocket of my robes.

I then remember that I had never written back to my parents, and I doubt Avery had either. They were probably very worried by now. Feeling slightly guilt, I turn around and sit at my desk. I conjure up a piece of fresh parchment and a quill. I use magic, so that the quill doesn’t need ink, before starting to write my letter.

Dear Father and Mother,

I am sorry that I have not written to you like I promised I would. I have been so caught up with everything here that I had simply forgotten. I still can’t believe I’m back at Hogwarts! I’m so happy that my friends have re-accepted me, and am no longer angry with me, as I have told them everything.

Avery is settling back in just fine. I’m keeping a close eye on her, but her friends all seem like very nice girls. I cannot say much more, for I fear this letter may be intercepted. I miss you both so much, and Avery and I both send our love. Please don’t worry or fret; we will be just fine.

Love Ravenna.

I place the letter in an envelope, and seal it off. I walk to my balcony, open the french doors, and step out. I purse my lips, and give a long whistle. Almost immediately, a raven flies off a nearby tree, and lands onto my balcony rail. The raven dips it’s head in a respectful bow, and I smile at him. I conjure up a tiny piece of string, and tie the note to his leg, which he holds out automatically.

The raven then takes flight, and I stand outside on the balcony, watching, until it disappears from sight. I walk back into my room, and shut the doors, before grabbing my belongings, and leaving my room.

Walking out, I see Draco’s door still closed, meaning he is still asleep. Class starts in just over an hour, so I don’t go down to breakfast straight away. I walk over to the kitchen and look around. I make myself a cup of hot chocolate using the milk in the fridge, and conjuring up chocolate powder and marshmallows.
