I didn't have to look far to find Gwen.
She was back at the high cliff I had told her to go to yesterday.
As I glided through the sky, my chest rising and falling heavily, I spotted her sitting right at the edge of it, the cliffs rocky wall being smashed with waves.
She was just there, plopped down with her head hanging low... looking like she had been crying.
Because of me.
It was all my fault.
I slowly swooped down to just a few feet behind her, but she didn't seem to notice or feel my presence.
I reached my wing forward, about to touch her shoulder to show her she wasn't alone but she only uttered out.
"What, Dax...?"
I gulped, giving a nervous laugh as I slowly sat beside her, trying to look into her eyes but she only turned her gaze in the opposite direction.
"What."
"I-" I began, but it was so hard to get the words out, "I... I was worried about you,"
"Why would you worry about me?" Gwen asked back sharply, folding her wings in an angry action and turning even more away from me, "I thought you hated me..."
I sighed heavily, rolling my eyes. Was she ever going to let this go?
"Well, I don't really..." I told her, finally pushing the truth out with love for my little sister, "You... you were just-"
"Uh huh?" She said quickly then, suddenly turning around to face me.
"Just not wanted on my date with Kim,"
Gwen's beak dropped open in almost a hanging jaw drop. She just glared at me, amazed at my answer before crying out so loud.
"YOU DO HATE ME!"
"NO, I DON'T!" I screamed back and tears began welling in her eyes, I cupped my beak shut with my wing, realizing I shouldn't be shouting so angrily at her – that would get us nowhere.
"You DO! YOU DO!" She cried and suddenly dropped off the cliff's edge. I yelped the second I saw this, diving down instantly, following her soar.
For some reason, at that moment I honestly forgot we could fly as I tried to reach her, Gwen inches from the waves of the sea but she suddenly swooped back up – with some struggle, mind you – and was flapping quickly back into the blue sky.
I was so mad at this, as I followed her back high into the sky and came over to her fast, yelling as we both flew up there.
"GWEN!"
"Go away!" She yelled and turned to fly in another direction to me, but I had to follow her. She was only a little duckling, and so SO naive. I couldn't let her be by herself.
"No," I told her back sternly.
"Why?!" Gwen yelled, tears dropping from her eyes like raindrops in the sky, "You HATE me!"
"NO, I DON'T!" I screamed back at her and she only shook her head angrily, before spotting up ahead, Mum and Dad.
"MUM!" Gwen shouted flying over to our mother and hugging onto her tightly, "Make Dax go away! He's being MEAN to me!"
"WHAT?!" I snapped, not believing what I just heard and Pam, my mum, looked at me with shock and anger.
"Dax? What the heck?" She asked and my dad Mack quickly flew over to her and Gwen, before glancing back at me and asking.
