Clouds for the first time started to swell in the blue sky. Pure dark grey and puffy clouds that were full of water vapour just waiting to pour down on us.

I was used to this sort of weather, however, from my family pond back home.

Though as I flew through the heavy cloud coverage I could feel the sense that I was being watched.

Being followed.

I sighed heavily, turning to look around as I droned out, "Gwen..."

But when I looked behind me, she wasn't there.

And then suddenly there was a strike of lightning, as thunder from it ripped right across the island.

I gulped, nervously.

I looked back ahead of myself, seeing that there were no other birds flying in this sort of weather... but I still couldn't shake off the paranoid fear someone was following me.

Stalking me.

Hunting me...

I finally stopped my flight, hovering there as I looked from each and every direction till suddenly-

MAX slammed down on me from above!

I lost my balance and grip on my flight as the two of us struggled in a fall towards the island's ground.

I was screaming and gasping in shock, trying to untangle myself from Max and I finally pushed him away, spreading my wings just in time as I missed the ground below and soared high back up into the sky.

I was huffing and puffing, looking every which way for my attacker, till I saw his body in the distance light up in a silhouette as lightning flashed behind him and again the rumbling of thunder tore across us.

"MAX!" I yelled at him furiously, flying his way but he quickly just dropped below me and I lost sight of him again, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" I begged.

I was feeling many emotions this minute. Anger, rage, frustration.

But the one emotion that was really pounding through me as my heart sped up in fright.

Fear.

I was afraid.

I suddenly felt it.

He cut across me, slashing me in my stomach with something and I coughed out hard, nearly tasting blood on my tongue.

I stayed there just absolutely shocked inside, and looked down to my gut, seeing a small cut from something sharp... and blood, bleeding out a little.

I clenched my beak closed tight in fear, and searched for the one who had attacked and injured me.

"MAX!" I screamed again, but something inside of me – call it instinct or physic sense – told me to swoop to the left and fast! Which I did.

Just as I did this, I only barely missed Max's second attack, and I was able to see where he was going as he soared higher and higher above me.

I clenched my jaw, afraid, but determined to end this. To beat some sense into him.

I nodded my head hard to myself and began to follow Max as he swooped and soared like a mad duck higher and higher into the sky and atmosphere.

"MAX!" I yelled at him again and when he finally couldn't go any higher, he turned around to face me.

"WHY!" He suddenly yelled, and the two of us reached the same level in flight, staring at each other – glaring at each other, "Why does SHE like YOU and NOT ME!"
