The curtains were open in the bedroom giving him a glimpse of the night sky, he wondered how long he had slept, it couldn't have been too long if it was still night. He noticed the city skyline from the window as he quickly glanced around the room, the furniture, everything was high end, name brand. By the view out the window they had to be in one of those condos or penthouses in one of the wealthier neighborhoods."Bambi" his attention diverted back to the two who were watching him. Jimins eyes were sleep filled and confused, he held questions that looked to want to run off his tongue. But Tae was different, his arms were crossed and his stance was authoritative. The look he was giving was suspicious, as if he doubted Jungkook.
The younger squinted under the scrutiny and fisted the shirt in his hold.
"Your name?" Jimin asked. "You're not a Choi"
Keeping his head down his eyes widened at the statement. How did they know? Did they know who he was? His past? Everything?
"H-h" he cleared his throat and blinked back his tears. It was now or never, if he was going to get rejected he at least needed them to explain how they knew such things first. "How?"
"We have our sources" Tae answered. "Sit" He pointed towards the couch behind him, Jungkooks fate was sealed the moment he stepped out of that bathroom, he just didn't know if it was in his favor or not.
With shaky legs he sat down and pulled at the hem of the shirt he had borrowed. He began biting his lips in nervousness, trying to settle his thoughts with how much the two in front of him knew.
"Jungkook?"
He flinched at the contact of hands on his knees. Looking up he found Jimin before him, smiling reassuringly, giving him some type of hope that maybe it wasn't as bad as he was imagining. Maybe some good was left in the world.
"Why did you lie?"
"Huh?"
"Your surname, it's not Choi. Why did you lie?" Jimin asked again.
What Jungkook didn't know was that while he was in the shower taking his time and advantage of the hot steam, Hoseok had returned with his information. Only when he gave it to Jin it was blank. Choi Jungkook, a twenty year old working part time at a book store did not exist. Choi Jungkook was made up.
"I.."
Taehyung stepped forward and stood over Jimin, looking down at the two with trepidation, it didn't feel right. Ever since meeting his second mate, this lingering feeling of ominous pain was sitting in the back of his mind. And anytime those big round eyes looked into his a chord was being struck, an orchestra of sinister voices was chanting something to him, only he couldn't make out the words.
Jungkook wasn't sure where to look. On one hand there was Jimin with endearing eyes wanting him to open up and be comfortable and then there was the other. Tae was standing above them, his arms crossed and eyes hard. It was easier to settle his gaze on his fingers then be scared or filled with guilt. How was he supposed to so openly accept these two? He barely knew them and now they wanted him to open up and tell them things that he had kept hidden away.
"Kookie you can tell us. Hmm? We are your soulmates after all."
That was the problem, wasn't it? They were his soulmates yet fate had it where he couldn't see that, but he could feel it, and that made it worse. Maybe if he had woken up when he was sixteen and seen the threads he wouldn't be here now, at least not in this way. Would they have come for him sooner? No. He shook his head, all these conflicting thoughts and what ifs were making things more difficult than necessary. If only he could open his mouth and tell them, if only he wasn't terrified of the pitiful look in their eyes they'd show him once he spoke the truth.
