Kirk, an African American man living in Whittier, California, learns from the local news about a serial killer on the loose who targets African Americans. The killer drives a dark black Dodge Challenger with bright LED headlights.

On his way home from the YMCA with his friend Ezra, Kirk feels a sense of unease knowing the killer is out there. The next day, Kirk is devastated to see on the news that his friend Ezra has been found dead in a dumpster, another victim of the serial killer.

Fearing for his own safety, Kirk becomes hyper-aware of his surroundings, constantly looking over his shoulder as he goes about his daily routine. The fear and paranoia weigh heavily on him as he struggles to come to terms with the senseless violence plaguing his community.

One evening, while walking home from work, Kirk hears the sound of footsteps behind him. Instinctively, he begins to run, but it's too late—the killer catches up to him and shoots him in the left knee cap. Pain shoots through Kirk's leg as he collapses to the ground, his vision swimming with agony.

Summoning all his strength, Kirk crawls towards the nearest building—a McDonald's—hoping to find safety and help. To his relief, he spots two police officers inside and manages to alert them to the presence of the killer.

With Kirk's help, the police quickly apprehend the suspect—a white male with Nazi tattoos who claims to be a former member of the KKK. The arrest brings a sense of closure to Kirk, knowing that justice will be served and that the killer will be held accountable for his heinous crimes.

Although Kirk survives his ordeal, the trauma of the experience lingers, casting a shadow over his life as he struggles to come to terms with the senseless violence that nearly claimed his own life.
