Everyone was present after Jae and Min-joo sat down in the living room-makeshift headquarters except Joon-hwi. Sol A sat up looking at the couple return and get seated, "Joon-hwi didn't come down with you two?"
Min-joo was reticent with any response. She looked at Jae as he looked at her and the others.
"Didn't Joon-hwi tell you to come down?" Min-joo shook her head. The didn't see him. President Han along with Sol A were worried he might have taken off again. Both rose up from the couch just as--
"Sorry. Nature called." Joon-hwi entered the room, quickly relieving the crowd about to start a search party instead of a meeting. "Looks like they made it down okay." He sat back down in the spot he left in between Sol A and his newly discovered father as they also sat back down. Joon-hwi peeked over at his twin, still agonizing over what he'd just saw.
Jae looked suspiciously back and turned his head away. He gave a heated breath through his nose as Geon-woo would. He couldn't be his usual expressive self, calling Joon-hwi a liar and cause a spectacle. He'd promised Min-joo he'd behave. But Jae knew every room in the house. He'd passed by the only bathroom Joon-hwi could use downstairs. The door was open. It hadn't been used and he wasn't occupying it when he and Min-joo returned. Joon-hwi came from another part of the house. Why he lied, Jae wasn't quite sure. Although, he sensed he'd seen the type of confused stare Joon-hwi was currently giving him many times before, upon some return after another alter had been present.
Jae tugged the hood from his sweatshirt over his head, quietly speaking in a tone Geon-woo would use, "Let's get this over with."
Moo-won stood nodding to Duk-ho to prepare the flatscreen for the meeting. "I'm glad we're finally all here. Welcome. As you can probably assume from your journey here, this is our safehouse. It is also owned under Detective Cha Geon-woo's alias along with Detective Jang Min-joo. Together they've been investigating Mr. Moon in connection to now deceased Prime Minister as an engaged couple and own a club within Seoul. More on that later. But first let me explain why our team exists."
Joon-hwi sat back into the cushion of the couch. While Chief Jang drummed on covering in his introduction on how the team was formed and why, Joon-hwi's mind wandered. Hmmm...maybe that's what it is. They were referring to each other as their alias upstairs. Geon-woo's name could be an alias too and maybe the name he goes by is Jae? He deepened his thought—He probably has several names due to his job as an undercover detective. Our mother had a mental illness; it didn't technically mean either of us would. Besides, Geon-woo was part of a deep undercover team; one that required a lot of grit. Surely, he couldn't work while having multiple personalities?
Sol A eyed Joon-hwi from the side. She could always tell when his mind was clicking away. He wasn't paying attention to anything being said. But she wasn't either. Sol A was also rethinking her first impression of Geon-woo and Min-joo. Maybe they were just rehearsing a fight for an undercover stint? She couldn't help but see a similarity in the houses; Joon-hwi's and this safehouse both had underground access. She wondered if the families who owned these homes were connected in the past or present, and if that was the reason the investigative team chose a home like this.
Moo-won's introduction took a sharp turn, snapping both Joon-hwi and Sol A from their attorney-like probing.
"However, this investigation began decades ago when I was a rookie. It was a case I'd never forget."
Sol A leaned forward and turned back to give Joon-hwi a look. Finally. They both calculated how old Joon-hwi could have been when Moo-won was a rookie. Sol A placed her hand over Joon-hwi's, comforting him as she believed he was about to hear how he was taken. As she did, Sol A was able to catch President Han's mournful expression. They could see he was preparing to hear this for the first time, too. He was also being informed what possibly happened to his children.
