As I was driving on the bridge, I saw a girl standing on the edge. I pulled over to see that she was a teenager.
"Honey, what are you doing?"
She didn't respond, but instead turned to face me. My headlights reflected her beautiful eyes in the dark night. They were bright purple.
"Hun'-" I reached for her arm. "-It's dangerous to be up there. Won't you come down?"
Her eyes watered up and she looked back at the freeway. Night traffic was strikingly fast tonight.
"What's wrong? I can help you." I knew I couldn't but I could sure try.
"No one can help me." Her voice was choked with tears, and it hurt to hear the pain.
"How can you be so sure?" I walked to her and gently grabbed her wrist. It was covered with cuts and scars. My headlights made her skin look so pale, and emphasized the red stains on her skin.
"If my best friend couldn't help me, then no one can help me. I'm sorry ma'am," she turned to face me, tears flowing down her pale cheeks. "You can't help me..."
"Your best friend wouldn't just give up on you," I tried to reason with her, but it was no use. She swayed near the edge.
"My best friend is dead. Ky is dead, because of me. I didn't love her back, and she killed herself."
Traffic roared in my ears. Suicide was such a touchy subject, and there's almost no way to save someone who was suicidal.
"There must have been another reason-"
"Ma'am, I've had weeks to think about any other reason," She stepped down from the ledge to stand in front of me. Her makeup was smeared near her eyes, and her black and purple hair blew in the wind. "There is no other reason. She was happy until I.. I..."
She started crying, and I pulled her into my shoulder.
"Honey, it's okay, it isn't your fault." I rubbed her back as she sobbed.
The girl pulled back and took a paper out of her pocket. "This was from her..."
Just by looking at the note, I knew it was a suicide note. Reading over the paper was heart-wrenching. Ky did kill herself for the girl...
Her name was Vivian.
"Vivian-" I looked up, but it was too late.
She was standing on the edge of the overpass, one leg dangling in the air. She looked back at me.
"Please, have me buried next to Ky. Then I can finally be with her again."
With those last words, she jumped.
