When it rains

Chapter 1

Long ago, at the beginning of time. Way before God, created the first human being, he created a race, more clever and more powerful than any man on earth.

He named this race the angelic race. And like every other one of his creations, he gave them free will, because he didn't want to be a puppet master pulling strings

For thousands of years the angels lived peacefully in heaven with God. Until one day when Lucifer, subsequently known as the devil and Lucifer Morningstar, one of the first angels God created, challenged God's leadership. God knew this day was destined to come, because since he made him, lucifers eyes had been emerald green sparkling with envy, and his nails had been as sharp as daggers clawing for power.

The motivation behind lucifer's challenge, was a desire to become the ruler of everything, and everyone. As far as Lucifer was concerned, God's creation of everything and everyone, did not automatically make him the best candidate for leader. In his not so humble opinion, he was more suited for the role. Why? Well simply because...

Anyway, the result of this challenge, which Lucifer undoubtedly lost, was Lucifer's banishment from heaven.

As part of Lucifer's punishment, God condemned him to walk the depths of hell forever, never to enter heaven again. At this moment in time, hell was an uninhabited, barren wasteland. Lucifer became more and more lonely with each step he took, during this period and as a result of this his anger, and hatred towards God often erupted. Over the years, Lucifer ignored the rules of his banishment, and used perversion, lies, bribery, and deceit to convince some greedy angels to join him in his lifelong quest to oust God.

These angels like him, became demons of the underworld, sworn enemies of God and the angelic race.

For thousands of years the angelic wars were fought between the angels and the demons. Both sides suffered grave casualties, but still the never-ending war continued.

It was at this point that God decided to create mankind. A race, who worshiped God above all, which undoubtably infuriated Lucifer.

After becoming aware of God's love for his latest creation, Lucifer went to earth and started to kill and torture humans, in an effort to defiantly anger God. He also used his acute skills in perversion to try to corrupt and turn mankind against God.

Years later, in order to put an end to the devil's torturing and murdering of mankind, God agreed to the devil's request to fight the angelic wars in the hearts, and souls of man, instead of continuing with the physical, bloody, brutal battles between the angels and the demons...

The devil believed that at each human's core, lay a selfishness, and a greed, which would undoubtedly lead to the corruption of mankind, whereas God had an unwavering faith in all of his creations. A faith that led him to believe that even those who had committed the most heinous of acts, were innately good, and worthy of his fatherly love.

As a result of this agreement, Earth became a giant chess board, filled with millions of pieces.

The rules of engagement, were simple; firstly, Lucifer and God would no longer visit earth. On the contrary, their angels and their demons, who were invisible to most of mankind, would visit earth on a regular basis and try to influence people, via telepathic suggestions. The demons soon evolved their approach, by placing humans in specific scenarios, which they believed would make them more susceptible to coercion and suggestion. Probably, the most important rule was the second one, which was that whichever side could gather up the most souls by December the 30th 2030 would be victorious. Thirdly, the loser would have to forfeit any influence they have on heaven, earth, or hell. Quite simply December the 30th 2030, would be judgment day, where either god or the devil would become ruler of all ...

This was fine for thousands of years. Until one day, in 2027, it wasn't.
