Charmain repeatedly gazed from the clock, on the wall, to the door. She grinded her teeth, and continually fidgeted. She texted Tyra: do you really think I should tell Gabriel now. Tyra replied: Yes Char. Trust. He needs to know. You two should be facing this together as a couple.

Charmain got up, strode up and down and then stared at the door. Bang. Charmain jumped and then looked in the direction of the sound, which, was the window, slamming shut after being accosted by a gust of wind. She thought, Gabriel has been meaning to fix that for ages.

Suddenly, the Livingroom door opened. Charmain turned around. Gabriel trudged into the house, as if he had the entire weight of the world was resting on his slumped shoulders. He was a six foot six, dark skin Adonis, with a lean muscular physique, which looked like it was carved out of stone, and piercing blue eyes that glistened like sapphires.

Charmain said, "hi darling. How was your day?"

"Fine," replied Gabriel.

Charmain had been with Gabriel long enough to know what this withdrawn demeanor meant. He had already withdrawn from this world like a turtle retreating into his shell. During these trying times his heart and mind were a vault, whose combination she was incapable of finding. Although he was physically there, he was just a fleeting shadow. She wondered whether she should just bite the bullet and share her news. No, she decided, she would wait until after dinner when he would hopefully be less agitated.

Gabriel, slogged into the bedroom, lay on the bed, looked up to the ceiling and then sighed and ran his hand down his face.
