Deny, Deny, Deny

The key to surviving a surgical internship is denial. We deny that we're tired, we deny that we're scared, we deny how badly we want to succeed. And most importantly, we deny that we're in denial. We only see what we want to see and believe what we want to believe, and it works. We lie to ourselves so much that after a while the lies start to seem like the truth. We deny so much that we can't recognize the truth right in front of our faces. Sometimes reality has a way of sneaking up and biting us in the ass. And when the dam bursts, all you can do is swim. The world of pretend is a cage, not a cocoon. We can only lie to ourselves for so long. We are tired, we are scared, denying it doesn't change the truth. Sooner or later we have to put aside our denial and face the world. Head on, guns blazing. De Nile. It's not just a river in Egypt, it's a freakin' ocean. So how do you keep from drowning in it?

Meredith is presenting Christina's case to the interns, Bailey and Seraphina. Christina feels that she's ready to go back to work.

Helen, the mother of Christina asks if she's really able to go back to work.

„I'm okay!" Christina tries to convince them. She explains her situation, that her body already recovered.

„The nurse said she had a fever this morning." Helen tells the doctors exposing her daughter.

„Is this true?" Bailey asks. The woman admits that it is true.

George brings up the fact that Christina worked two shifts with a high temperature and the flu.

„Thank you!"

„You stay in bed until it normalise." Bailey orders.

„I remind her that there's more to life than her career."

„Mother, go upholster something." Christina says.

„Just relaxe and get better, you can be a doctor next week."

„Baileys right, you need to rest." sera adds. They all leave the room Meredith following behind.

George is presenting Ellis Grey's case now. Sera is in the hallways talking to a nurse and filling out the chart. He starts presenting but Ellis stops him.

„You are wrong, wrong, wrong."
She cuts him off.

„I don't want you in here! She's just a child. I don't want her on my team.

Meredith leaves the room and runs into the female shepherd.

„oh I'm soo sorry!" Meredith apologies immediately.

„you good?" the blonde intern nods.

„follow me."

Sera walks to the elevator, mer close behind. Derek runs into the two.

„Are you skipping rounds?" he aks Meredith.

„I'm avoiding my mother." she tried to walk past him and keep up with his sister.

Derek holds her arm and pulls her in front of him.

„You've got a wife."

„Yes."

„Your life is complicated."

„Yes."

„I don't need complicated."

„Yes."

„I have complicated all on my own."

„Yes."

„Stop doing that!" she tells him off.

Seraphina watches them. She wants to see how this ends it is quit amusing.

„Try not to make any sudden movements." he smiles and adds

„Addison is leaving because she doesn't have anymore patients and has no reason to stay in Seattle."

He strokes mer cheek.
„Wait does that mean your sister will go as well?" before Derek could answer Addison walks in.

„Well, isn't this cozy. Can I join in or are you not into threesomes?"

„I have to go." Meredith walks ahead to Sera.

„Where are we going?"

„Cafeteria, to get coffee." sera smiles at mer. She wanted to get to know Meredith she believes that Derek and Meredith will end up together eventually.

Unfortunately a nurse is paging sera. The woman looks at Meredith with an apologetic face.

„Sorry, I have to take this. How about we meet after our shift and go to that bar across the street?"

„Sure, thanks again."

Seraphina walks away.

Alex and Izzie are walking next to each other. The blonde tells him that they're both off that night.

It was clear that Isobel Stevens was trying to ask Alex out. She just couldn't get the words out. Mumbling and stuttering.

„You are so into me. It's sad - the worship, the adoration. I am so handsome. I intoxicate you." Alex says.

„Forget it."

„Izzie, would you like to go out with me tonight? On a date. You wear something gorgeous. I pay for food."

„Are you making fun of me?" She couldn't believe it. She asks him if this was a joke.

„I'm not." he smiles.

„Okay then" izzie grins.

„Good."

„Good."
