collette landed while i was heading home from practice.

she already arranged transportation to my apartment, even though i told her again & again that i would get her.

i was tidying things up that where already tidied up but i need to do something.

i have anxiety.

she's supposed to be teaching in tennessee right now. its september 21, over a month since we last saw eachother in person.

there was a knock at my door and i took a deep breath and let it out before looking out the peep hole.

i opened the door, noticing there was no smile on her face and she didn't jump into my arms like last time.

instead i moved out of the way and let her in.

both of us moving in silence.

she didn't have a suitcase, she has a backpack.

i didn't get her a return ticket home because i didn't know how long she'd be staying.

"was the flight okay?"

"yeah." she mumbled, setting her bag down.

"letty whats going on babe?"

her body shook.

"baby, talk to me."

"cole," she said, starting to cry.

"yeah?"

"you might want to sit down or even kick me out after this but," she reached into her bag.

"collette, what?"

she pulled out 2 pregnancy test & an ultrasound.

"cole im pregnant."

i stared in disbelief.

she cried, hiding her face from me.

"im sorry cole."

she wont call me babe.

i walked into the dining room and sat down.

"ill go and give you some time." she said, sitting the test and ultrasound on the counter.

"no please dont leave."

"i think you need some time alone to process this." she said.

"i need time with you." i said, reaching out to hold her hand.

"cole," she wiped her tears. "you dont need a baby right now. you've got bigger things to focus on. im sorry that it has to end like this."

i watched her lip quiver and she let out a shaky breath.

"no colette, dont do this."

"i think its for the best." she said.

"i love you." i whispered.
