<>coles pov<>

i headed to meet my parents for dinner in york.

round one of the playoffs and were down 0-3 to the rangers.

im bummed that colette isn't here, her last day of school was yesterday so shes still in nashville.

we made it a rule to call 4 times a week, text daily, & i got a daily outfit picture from her.

my parents picked the dinner spot on this monday evening in the big apple.

i opened the front door and the place is big & elegant.

"how many?"

"oh im actually meeting my parents here." i said.

"caufield?" she asked.

"yes." i nodded.

"right this way." i followed her to the back corner.

i saw my dad first in the booth since he was facing me, he stood up and hugged me.

"hey bud."

"hey dad." i hugged him back.

i may be 24 but being in my dads embrace is calming me, this series has been hell.

we let go of each other and i turned to the table, expecting to see my mom standing there to hug me, but the booth was empty.

i pointed, "wheres mom?"

"bathroom." he said, taking a seat.

i sat down across from him.

"how are you?" he asked.

"i need a win tomorrow night to boost my mood." i said.

"i dont mean to be hard on you & the team but you guys look awful."

i nodded, "its like we have no chemistry. like we all started playing with eachother 2 weeks ago."

"thats what i was thinking. you're passing pucks to guys and they have now clue what theyre doing, they're skating pass the puck."

"its rough." i said, taking a drink of the water.

"its nice to have a day off here though." i said. "the team did some sightseeing today after practice."

"you liking the big apple?"

i turned to the voice thats so much sweeter hearing in person than over the phone.

"letty." i quickly stood up and embraced her in a hug.

"hi baby." she whispered into my neck.

i squeezed her tightly before setting her down.

"what are you doing here?" i asked.

"to see you." she smiled.

i hugged her again before looking at my mom.

"good surprise?" she asked.

"very! thank you!" i said hugging my mom.

colette slide into the booth first so
i was on the outside.

i placed my hand in her thigh, feeling her skin through her ripped jeans.

"i missed you." she whispered, gazing at the menu.

"i thought you had some work days next week." i said.

"i have a really awesome principal & co-teachers." she smiled.

i dont think my hand ever left the touch of her skin at dinner.

hugging her bye because i have to be at the hotel for checkin soon and shes going to a different hotel.
