Soojin

After dinner, I retreated back to my room and began flipping through the pages of my childhood album. There he was, a small smile lingering on his face. His eyes gleamed with mischief, though I had always been more mischievous than Alain.

This picture was taken during a school camping trip, officially our 'last night together.'

The memories were still vivid. I could still picture the bright full moon, feel the cold wind, and most importantly, remember Alain's comforting company.

With those happy memories in mind, I went to bed.

The Next Day:

I found myself standing in front of Stary Mall, a place meant only for the wealthy people. I was waiting for Alex.

"Hey, Soojin. Sorry for keeping you waiting," Alex said as he approached.

He wore a plain white shirt with rolled-up sleeves, neatly tucked into his black jeans. His hair was perfectly styled, complementing his expensive appearance. He wore a Cartier watch and exuded a rich vibe. I could even catch a whiff of his cologne.

"Handsome," I muttered unconsciously, but he heard it and chuckled.

"Beautiful indeed," he gestured for me to walk with him.

I was dressed in an A-line brown skirt and a white top, looking simple with light makeup.

"Soojin, where would you like to go? Arcade? Restaurant?" Alex asked.

"A restaurant sounds better since it's already lunchtime," I said.

"Here we go," he smiled gently as we stepped into the restaurant present inside the mall.

We took a seat near the window, and I espied at the beautiful interiors.

"Are you okay?" he asked.

"Oh, yeah, I am fine. Sorry."

We hadn’t ordered anything yet, but I noticed a waiter approaching with numerous trays and plates.

He placed them on our table and bowed before leaving.

"Wait! There's a mistake. We didn’t order these-" I started, but Alex interrupted by placing a cherry in my mouth.

"I ordered it before we arrived. Technically, I reserved this table just for us. If you want to order anything else or don’t like something, just let me know," he said, looking at me with his intense dark eyes.

My jaw dropped. All the dishes he ordered were incredibly expensive - Lobster Roll, Kobe Beef Burger, Alaskan King Crab Legs, Dry-Aged Steak, Truffle Mac and Cheese, Chocolate Puddings.

"Why aren't you eating?" Alex asked, cutting his steak.

I began eating. The dishes were exceptionally delicious, enjoyable, and satisfying. The Truffle Mac and Cheese melted in my mouth. I had never tasted anything so delicious.

"Did you enjoy the meal?" Alex asked as we strolled through the mall.

"Yes, it was my first time trying some of those dishes. I never had them before, honestly," I admitted.

"It was my honor to introduce you to something rare. Not everyone gets this opportunity," he smiled.

"Thank you, but I feel they were not really for me. I mean, they deserve better."

"You deserve them, Soojin. Also, I want to take this further."

Oops! Did he just read my mind?

"Sorry, I didn't get you," I stammered, clutching the strap of my handbag.

"I am dating you with the purpose of marriage in mind," he said seriously, glancing at the Gucci shop.

My world stopped. No way, I was getting married. I was still young.

"Alex, I think you're making a hasty decision. I'm not the perfect girl to date," I said hesitantly.

"Of course, you're not the perfect girl to date. You are the most perfect girl for me to marry. Now come with me," he said, grabbing my hand and leading me into the Gucci shop.

"A velvet coat for this lady, please," he said to the employee.

"Here you go, sir. This will look good on ma'am," the employee said, handing me the coat. I was bound to wear it because Alex wouldn't listen.

I tried on the coat and looked at myself in the mirror. Wow, I looked splendid... but the price.

"Alex, you really didn’t need to," I said as we walked out of the shop.

"It was my pleasure to serve a queen," he winked. Since it was already evening, we bade each other goodbye.

I reached home and saw Sooah sitting on the couch watching a movie.

"How dare you watch a movie without me?" I said, feigning anger.

"You went to enjoy with Alex, so I was feeling bored," she replied while munching on popcorn. "Wait, when you left home, you weren’t carrying any coats... spill the tea, sissy."

I told her everything, including the marriage proposal.

"See, I told you, he had a purpose. Now do what your heart desires," she advised, and I agreed.

After a long day, I went to bed, thinking about Alex.

The way he talked, his behavior, his dedication to work, his manners. Everything about him seemed perfect. The way he held my hand... his fingers brushing against mine. Those moments were beautiful. I couldn't forget the moment when he stuck a cherry in my mouth while I was talking... it was straight out of a romance novel.
